The Shopify Dev Degree program 2025 cohort application is now open till 14th Feb. Give it a shot, good for those who want a CS degree in partner universities in York University or Carleton University as they intern at Shopify - cost covered plus mentorship https://t.co/S0NDyl6n6t
Two developers earn the same salary of 800k. Both single.
One spends it living lavishly. The other saves 500k every month living on 300k which is a lot of money.
In 2 years, one has 12m (not counting the compound interest which is like 130k+ p.m).
Who do you want to be like?
Too often, people dive into building without giving the database enough thought. Later, it becomes a headache. Always plan for your data....how to structure it, scale it, and manage it effectively.
Internship Opportunity:
We are looking for a motivated intern to join our team! The ideal candidate should meet the following qualifications:
1️⃣ Currently in their 3rd or 4th year of study (proof required)
2️⃣Available for a 6-month internship
3️⃣ Understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, and Computer Science fundamentals
🚨 This is not a remote opportunity and you will be required to report to work daily
If you’re interested, please send your CV along with links to projects you’ve worked on to [email protected].
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Write tests to ensure your code meets business requirements.
Write fitness functions to ensure your system meets architectural goals.
Both are essential....functionality without structure is chaos, and structure without purpose is a house of cards....

As a Software Architect , it is important to have both depth of knowledge( expertise in specific technologies) and breadth of knowledge (range of technologies one is familiar with)
I will talk about the latter....
If you want to keep increasing your breadth of knowledge as an architect:
-Follow technical writers on platforms like : medium ,substack, X , LinkedIn. My favourite (@ProgressiveCod2
,@hnasr@RaulJuncoV)
-Read at least one case study every morning from blogs written by Tech Companies @veno_iot ,Meta,Google,Netflix,Amazon,X(I wish @SafaricomPLC wrote about Mpesa) etc to understand technical decisions they have had to make over the years with an aim to learn and not to copy paste the solution.(Remember architectural patterns make sense when there is context)
-Do Cloud Certifications like AWS Solution Architect Course, Azure cloud Certifications,Google Cloud Certifications and Udemy courses etc
If you forget everything above remember to Keep Learning 💪
So what's your strategy to stay ahead of the game?
When building complex software systems, managing risk proactively helps you avoid managing crisis reactively.
Plan ahead ,design smart, mitigate and stay ahead of the chaos...
