In fact, it took Mahi 4 more years before he started playing for India.

"When we're young, we want it all early. But in reality getting it all very early is a bigger problem. Because your base is not laid to handle it. Doesn't mean you have to be late either. From your side the effort has to be 100%. But if it is doesn't seem to be working out right now, then it is better that it is this way."

Recently noticed that all Swiggy txns were for whole figure amounts, while other card txns still had paisa amounts.

Dug a bit and discovered @Swiggy used charge the exact amount to the paisa once upon a time but have since started salami slicing.

When explaining various authorization and authentication standards to their peers or management, such as OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SAML, many professionals in the field need help. They understand the concepts and how they're used, but because these protocols are similar, they might need clarification from someone trying to learn about them. All of this is usually called Identity and Access Management (IAM).

First, we have some 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗼����𝗿 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (app, API, etc.) and someone who needs to access that resource (called identity). That someone can be a user or some other software.

Second, we must also understand 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. With authentication, we verify the identity of who needs to access our resources if they are who they claim to be. With authorization, we determine what resources that identity can access.

So, IAM solutions allow us to 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼. They define which user information to store and how users must prove their identity. Identity providers create and maintain user identity information and can provide it to other applications. Examples of identity providers are Microsoft AD and Twitter.

Different standards exist, such as:

🔹 𝗢𝗔𝘂𝘁���� 𝟮.𝟬: is an idustry-standardn that apps use to grant access to client applications. It is commonly used for users to grant websites access to their information on other websites but without giving them the passwords. Amazon, Google, and Microsoft use it to permit users to share info about their accounts with 3rd party apps.
🔹 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗗 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁: is a layer on top of OAuth and it adds an extra layer of security by encrypting the connection between the user and the app or site. We can use it to enable single sign-on (SSO) between applications using a security token (ID token).

🔹 𝗝𝗦𝗢𝗡 𝗪𝗲𝗯 𝘁𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻𝘀: is an open standard to share security information between a client and a server in JSON format. JWT is sent in the HTTP request with a digital signature. It can be signed using a secret or a public/private key pair.

🔹 𝗦𝗔𝗠𝗟: is an open standard where authorization and authentication information is exchanged between a service provider and an identity provider (in XML format). It was created in 2002, so it's one of the oldest protocols.

What's happening with senior devs in India?
As I'm taking lots of interviews I'm amazed at so many senior engineers not knowing what goes behind the scenes.
For example, how coroutine works, or what goes behind in an API request, very few people can answer those 🤦

Even when asked opinionated questions about architecture and system design, very few "senior engineers" can back their opinions with logic other than some X company recommends. Most of them don't even have an opinion.
