@MadHabber It is stupid. But cutting firefighting budgets is also stupid. Ontario reduced its Emergency Forest Firefighting program budget from about C$177 million to C$135 million in its 2025 budget, even as wildfire seasons were becoming more severe.
@haztourz@BlaseNewYorkr Now do Chinese emissions (and trajectory) vs. the US. They have tripled their coal usage over the last couple of decades. Total.
@Claudia_4456 The outdated notion that Americans don't travel can probably be put to rest. There are more than 20 million American trips to Europe every year.
@loveligyu@_juliebean_ no, of course not. It's just not as widely used as in the US. On the other hand, it is reasonable to question air conditioning when so many people die in Europe every year from the heat.
@undisputed104 No, USA fans don't think they have a real chance. Just optimism and having fun. It isn't a sport most Americans follow closely or care too much about, but it's been a fun event.
@FAmmiranteTFJ No one in the US actually thinks they can win the World Cup. They are just having fun with a sport most people in the country don't care about at all.
@dylan__CLE The weirdest thing about this World Cup is seeing Aussies have a meltdown and seem to believe they have some bitter sports rivalry with the US. And the Americans don't even think about Australia. Ever.
