Returns still would be threatened by legal challenge if it existed today. The increase did coincide with brexit but due to improvements in clandestine detection etc

@bornandbredinEU @Chivers67 @Terfs_R I suppose with countries such as Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea etc the demand for visas is fairly low and therefore no leverage? And legal challenges would still exist with lawyers claiming migrants would face prosecution in their homelands due to civil war etc.

They have to let some cross to release the crowds in the camps. We do need to be tougher on asylum claims though etc which is why legislation is being brought

@Terfs_R @bornandbredinEU How does this work in practice? They reach our shores, you put them in detention rooms (which we don’t have enough of hence hotels etc) and don’t give them any food etc? Where do you deport them back to if they have no papers and countries not willing to accept?

@krxsctr @ptbrennan11 It is baffling because you can work at the Home Office in an analytical security role as. A G7 and earn over 70k which is better than the private sector comparison. But then you can be the same grade/level and earn 15k less in another department (i.e foreign office or MHCLG)
