Google is testing payments for publisher content used in AI answers.

The feature is called 𝗔𝗜 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

It appears inside Search Console for selected publishers.

Here’s what it covers:

• 𝗔𝗜 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲
• 𝗔𝗜 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀
• 𝗚𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶

The idea is simple.

If your content significantly contributes to an AI-generated response, you may earn from it.

Google says this is still an early-stage pilot.

Dozens of publishers have reportedly been approached, with small and mid-sized publishers showing more interest than big media groups.

The bigger story is not just payment.

It is how Google may start valuing publisher content beyond clicks.

Still, the big unknowns remain:
