Teton Pass to reopen via a temporary detour midday Friday according to WYDOT.

Crews for Jackson-based Evans Construction have been working around the clock since the landslide but had just enough time to leave this little gem for the drone to capture.

A bit late to post, but I took a ride on a START commuter bus from Idaho that's been forced to a new alternate route due to the Teton Pass collapse. The 3 hour commute - 6 round trip - has forced some into a 14 hour work day. Tune into the latest episode of "Jackson Unpacked."

UPDATE: A short-term solution to the collapse of Teton Pass is weeks away, according to WYDOT. They're building a temporary two-lane detour to the side of the landslide. A long-term rebuild of the roadway is still in planning stages, with no timeline for construction.

BREAKING: Teton Pass is closed indefinitely.

As WYDOT crews worked to repair the cracks identified Thursday, it collapsed due to a landslide.

About 15% of Teton County’s workforce lives on the other side of the pass according to 2022 state numbers.

This comes after discovering a crack on Teton Pass yesterday, in a different area of the pass, due to a landslide. Runoff season is causing a tough couple of days for WYDOT.

BREAKING: Teton Pass closed due to a mudslide with no schedule of reopening as of 11 a.m. WYDOT crews have been working to clear debris since early this morning.

“I don’t think we’re going to get it opened today for people to get home,” WYDOT engineer Bob Hammond said.

Elk shed hunt this morning near the National Elk Refuge. A new state law lets Wyomingites hunt a week earlier than out-of-state residents.
