Now, this is a proper way to answer a question without putting another player down
Zico picked Lionel Messi ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo,
but read what he said
"You canโt compare Lionel Messi to Cristiano Ronaldo because they are different players with very different characteristics."
That is the point
I once did a breakdown of the football cultures of Argentina and Portugal and how they have influenced the styles of both Messi and Ronaldo.
Their football education, environments and roles are different, and that has shaped the players they became
Zico went further:
"I would prefer to play with Cristiano Ronaldo because Lionel Messi is closer to me in style of play."
Beautifully put.
Yes, it is perfectly normal to compare Messi and Ronaldo
They are two of the greatest players the game has ever produced, and comparisons will always happen
But the moment you have to put one player down just to elevate the other, it stops being football analysis
You can prefer Messi without disrespecting Ronaldo
You can prefer Ronaldo without diminishing Messi
I know someone that understands the game when I see one
Zico understands football
Others should learn from him
Personally, I want to see Enzo Fernรกndez, Bouaddi, Anderson and Cherki all starting together.
Bouaddi as the 6 (Inverted Stones) โ sitting deep, protecting the back line and providing that physical presence.
Elliot Anderson as the 8 (Rodri) โ controlling the rhythm, calming things down and dictating the flow of play.
Enzo Fernรกndez as the box-to-box midfielder(Gundogan) โ bringing energy, aggression and presence in the middle.
Cherki as the creative genius (KDB) โ the player who creates chances and produces something out of absolutely nothing.
This will work.
We currently have a 25-man squad: 3 goalkeepers (Raya/Kepa/Meslier), 8 defenders (Saliba/Gabriel/Timber/Calafiori/Konsa/Hincapie/White/Mosquera), 7 midfielders (Rice/Odegaard/Bruno/Myles/Zubimendi/Merino/Ethan), and 7 forwards (Saka/Kai/Tzolis/Eze/Gyรถkeres/Noni/Max); I haven't even mentioned players like Setford, Vieira, Martinelli, and Jesus who are likely to leave. Ethan might leave too, but I think he should stay if we can't sign Alvarez. We have a really good squad, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and we don't need to overpay for a random forward unless absolute quality is available.

Well, the stats can be interpreted in different ways:
1. A team being player-centric
2. The player being system-dependent and serving as the focal point
And more..
Remove Olise and Diaz, and Bayern have 82 NPG in 34 games (2.41 pg)
Kane had 26 NPG in 31 (0.84)
Thats a 34.9% ratio.
For comparison, every elite goalscorer (Lewa, Mbappe, R9, Romario, ...) has averaged 35%+ across TEN seasons.
Kane's historic season is everyone else's average.
