@SpotifyStatus I can't log into my Spotify app on my phone but I can log in on my computer via my browser. I had to change passwords but my password isn't being recognised on my phone app.
Might be difficult to select just one, but if you had to choose a mentor text that focuses on teaching mathematical inquiry through a conceptual lens using visible thinking, what text would you choose? Looking to start up professional reading group with colleagues.
As online learning continues with its various challenges for all parties, is it time to say let's forget reporting during this time (and dare I say curriculum) and teach to the child when we get back into the classroom. I wonder what others are thinking/doing about reporting.
About grading during school closures for a global pandemic...
Don’t do it. It’s not even a question. Don’t do it. Equity demands it. Give lots of feedback, as lovingly as possible. @Larryferlazzo#homelearning#remotelearning
@whatedsaid@mimiwalk65 Definitely. The longer this thing drags on the more flexible we will need to become...personal projects with regular check-ins and a more personalised approach. Curriculum is important, but it is not the be-all and end-all right now.
@pypchef@traintheteacher@Katherineqi@glennlawler I gave my 3yo a chance this week to work on a personal project (as part of my regular online learning program). About half responded and shared their learning. I have children learning how to cook, ride a bike with no training wheels, play hopscotch and build Lego constructions.
@gmpinn @r_nd_rgh @innejf Help S and P create routines/expectations around the process and product. Maybe it is one part of your online program. Younger S will need more support but presumably they are supervised while parents are at work. The S can learn from any supportive adult at any time of the day.
What if we did away with the daily/weekly online learning plans for students and instead asked them to choose their own learning (learn how to cook, a new instrument, how to ride a bike, etc)? They could share their progress and we could ‘zoom into or ‘hang out’ as their mentors?
@evenodds64 Good advice. We're almost at 2 weeks of DL. Currently offering our young ones a menu of choices based on routines, units of work, etc. I'm continuing with these routines and adding a new option this week where S and P can choose a 'personal project'. I'll see how S & P respond.
@rjefferyjones@tombarrett The longer this thing drags on, and the more our communities are dragged along with it, the less important curriculum outcomes become. When things are finally done and dusted and we resume some degree of normality, curriculum outcomes will need to be revised.
