Let's learn how to factor quadratics where the leading coefficient isn't 1 without guessing and checking.
(Okay I know that sounds boring but I like this video lol)
@NielsHoven You may want to review your inclusion of "consonant blends" and "silent e". Teaching consonant blends as “units” ultimately slows orthographic mapping. "Silent e" is better taught as split digraphs: a_e, e_e, i_e, o_e, u_e
@ShedTeach I agree. How can we focus more on teaching the ‘tenness’ structures of the system versus the names of the place values though? So we get students to that level of security with understanding and commanding the system.
@ShedTeach I also love to look into the history of a word, a ‘great thousand’ leading to discussions of a thousand lots of a thousand. There are also so many great picture books that help develop students understanding of the ‘tenness’ of the underlying base structure.

Adaptive explanations:
- Break the content down into smaller chunks.
- Provide further examples and non-examples to make abstract concepts concrete and highlight common misconceptions.
- Provide graphical representations of the content: diagrams, T-charts, timelines, flow charts.
Adaptive teaching for multilingual learners isn't about doing more - it's about noticing more.
If a student is silent, lost or stuck, don’t assume they don’t understand ➡️respond with scaffolds: visuals, gestures, L1 use, sentence starters.

@nsachdeva2019@rastokke It’s amazing how many people who don’t understand how memory works feel it’s best if they chime in here. 🤦️ flashcards are well proven great work. Have you used the extension on this idea from https://t.co/pr7FwMRP3e really great also.
@tinareed40 Drives me insane too! Especially when they suddenly slow down getting on and off the escalators as they’re not aware of surroundings. Other day I gave seat up on MTR for an older person using a stick on but he walked past many before me, all with heads down in their phones.
