I disagree with this assessment. It is a epidemic, and not a large one.
A pandemic is an epidemic of an infectious disease that spreads across multiple continents or worldwide, affecting a large number of people.
This may become a large epidemic, but very unlikely to be a pandemic. Definitions matter.
It really isn't a large epidemic yet - but as Ebola spreads from body fluids and contact, most likely - the case count will rise rapidly for a bit and then decline rapidly. People aren't stupid and as soon the outbreak was known throughout the region, people probably became more careful. Most likely - it is already mostly self-contained. Just has to burn itself out now.

I feel sad for the people who live their lives in fear over over-hyped, extremely rare diseases.
