Today's Twitter Poll: Do you think the first past the post (FPTP) system has worked well, or should we move closer to a form of proportional representation (PR)?
Rough glossary:
First Past The Post: Current system where each constituency elects person who got most votes, all other votes are then mostly irrelevant.
Proportional Representation: All votes count as (through various different mechanisms) number of seats is made to more closely matches the percentage of the national vote.
"In the coming years, growing numbers of voters will be driven to @TheGreenParty and other leftwing formations. As long as leftwing forces in Britain build on this moment and find common cause – yes, a big but – then this could be a new beginning indeed."

I just can’t get past Labour winning 65% of seats off 34% of the vote.
Absolutely wild mismatch between the headline result and, well, everything else.
Britain is now a multi-party system, and first-past-the-post can’t cope.
The bread baskets of #India have faced temps over 44°C for nearly 40 days straight. Agriculture cannot survive at these extreme temps and droughts for long.

Incredible time at the #RestoreNatureNow march in London today.
"You feel this real love for the people who passionately defend nature every single day. So many amazing organisations with incredible supporters here to be heard & show politicians that we want action." Daze Aghaji
No matter why or how people move, we are all driven by the eternal human quest for a better life, to find dignified work opportunities, to give our children a good education, or to live in a safe & warm home.

Some Conservative MPs think they are worth £1,500 per hour, yet don’t think Junior Doctors should start on more than £14.
In reality all doctors want is fair pay after more than a decade of real terms pay cuts.
Please RT if you agree they deserve it.

@Heccles94 we were just discussing this at a local meetup. PR & also: 1. more devolution to local authorities/regions. 2. an English parliament like Wales, Scotland and NI already has. i.e. less power centralised in westminster
We will never stop taking action for animal justice. Oscar Elite (pictured) fell at today's Scottish Grand National and was killed shortly after. This is heart-breaking and unnecessary, in a world that has so much potential to just be kind. We don't need to be forcing these beautiful creatures into such dangerous positions. We don't need to be breeding more of them and killing the ones who aren't good enough. It's all so unnecessary.
At 3pm, around 25 supporters of Animal Rising attempted to get on to the tracks and prevent the next race from going ahead. Unfortunately, with an enormous and heavy-handed police presence, everyone (and the fences they were attached to) was swiftly removed from the tracks.
But we will never stop taking action. We have an opportunity to build a kinder future where animals are no longer exploited for entertainment, food or any other cause. Please sign our petition to bring an end to this cruel sport. (Link in Bio)
Rest in peace to Oscar Elite, and to all of the horses who weren't fast or strong enough and didn't even make it that far. 💔 #ForAllLife
