Now a $3 billion market for IV drips!
The sleep "sweet spot" for biological aging isn't 8 hours per night.
6.4-7.8 hours was associated with the lowest biological age gaps across 23 organ-specific clocks including the brain, liver, pancreas, skin, and adipose tissue.
Short (<6 hours) and long (>8 hours) sleep were both associated with higher biological aging, but likely for different reasons.
Short sleep may directly cause aging, while long sleep may reflect underlying disease or pathology - something that causes someone to require more sleep due to fatigue, recovery, or poor sleep quality.
The p-tau217 breakthrough blood test replicated again, predicting Alzheimer's disease in a large cohort mean age 61. The cover of the new issue is telling @TheLancet https://t.co/Qre6mCkpMV

Had the enrollment been risk-based instead of age 50, it would likely have been very positive.
Geriatric medicine is set to be healthcare’s unexpected breakout branch — and Budget 2026 just made it official.
UNDERDOG OF THE MEDICAL WORLD
1. Focus on geriatric care & caregiver development
2. Formal expansion of home-based elderly support systems
3.Recognition of ageing population as a national health priority
4. Push for multiskilled caregiver training + integration with mainstream care
As India ages, demand for geriatric specialists will definately increase.
Not “nice to have” — absolutely essential.

People may call or consider India a "developing nation" or sometimes "under-developed," but there are some aspects here in relation to health, which are uber-superior to many other countries that are considered "developed."
A Bench led by Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud on Monday (April 22) said it was a “very very exceptional case where we have to protect her (the girl)”.

In the United States which is a country within the highest category for human freedom in civil rights, the Supreme Court eliminated a constituitional right to abortion nationwide and nearly two dozen US states have banned or limited access to the procedure. States like Idaho has enforced its abortion ban even in medical emergenices and some have pregnancy limits of 6-18 weeks.
https://t.co/5wmhgMJM9Y
Since the decision, in the USA, 14 states have prohibited abortion at any gestational age which also includes pregnancy in rape survivors. Restricting abortion access to survivors of rape can have particularly devastating consequences. Many of these states require that the rape be reported to law enforcement, which most survivors of rape are reluctant to do, and even when reported, the process often markedly slows the timing of early abortion.

Here in India, it is exemplary that rationalism and morality from the Apex Court has surpassed every other emotion in taking such a drastic and hard-hitting step to protect the girl. Would have been a different story in the USA.
Jai Hind.
Today is World Homeopathy Day.
A gentle reminder to please think "country first" and elect educated leaders so that this great nation's long lost scientific temperament, logical healthcare policies and public health priorities make a healthy and rational comeback.
Otherwise we will be stuck, spending millions of taxpayer money researching coconut water for autoimmune diseases, pepper for cancer, turmeric for gun-shot wounds, honey for abdominal abscesses, chai for bipolar mania, basmati rice for fever and paneer tikka masala for Alzheimer's disease.
Think.
Is bipolar disorder a metabolic disorder impacting the brain?
NEW RESEARCH by @IainCampbellPhD and colleagues!
"The metabolic overdrive hypothesis: hyperglycolysis and glutaminolysis in bipolar mania"
Depressive episodes are known for energy impairment while manic episodes are known for brain hypermetabolism.
Fascinating research on the role of glutamate—not as a neurotransmitter, but as a source of fuel for brain cells.
"Indeed, the role of glutamate as a metabolic substrate was an original focus of glutamate research throughout the mid 1900s, including that of Hans Krebs, prior to later recognition of its function as an excitatory neurotransmitter."
What's old is new again!
