ppl still making ill-informed comments about the sentencing of a group of UK climate activists who went to jail for several years for blocking the M25 motorway seem to not realize they were jailed because what they had intended to do would have been much worse than what they achieved
Even so the economic damage was considerable and affected hundreds of thousands of people. If they had been successfull it'd have been millions.
It was sheer luck that no one was seriously injured or killed

I don't know much about the German legal system let alone the UK one so I can't tell whether that sentence is too long or too short or how it compares to similar cases and whatnot. But someone who clearly didn't follow the case calling me a Nazi for saying that a British judge had a point saying that this was not a vanilla disobedience illustrates very nicely why twitter is such a shitplace
