GPT-5 nano is a surprisingly strong alternative to probabilistic algorithms. I replaced langdetect library (a Naïve Bayes classifier) with a single GPT-5 nano call and the output improved massively.

For max speed and minimal cost, set effort: minimal and verbosity: low. And of course, use structured output.
