August 26 is a day we remember. Abbey Gate is a name America must never forget.
Thirteen of our fellow service members died there while serving and protecting others. In the final moments of their lives, they were still helping strangers reach safety.
They were not “the 13.” Each had a name, a family waiting at home, and a life they should still be living.
Remember their names:
Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover
Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo
Sgt. Nicole L. Gee
Cpl. Hunter Lopez
Cpl. Daegan W. Page
Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez
Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza
Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz
Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum
Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola
Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui
Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Maxton W. Soviak
Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss
Eleven Marines. One sailor. One soldier. Thirteen families who have carried the unbearable weight of that day ever since.
Say their names. Honor their sacrifice. Never forget Abbey Gate.
Happy 5th Birthday, Project DYNAMO!
Five years. More than 600 missions across more than 50 countries. More than 8,100 Americans and allies rescued.
Project DYNAMO is still here. The mission continues.
Help bring the next one home:

Afghanistan fell on August 15, 2021.
Project DYNAMO did not yet exist, but the mission that would create it was already taking shape.
On August 24, that mission became Project DYNAMO.
Over the next eight days, we will tell that story.
Every plan begins with assumptions.
The discipline isn't making perfect assumptions. It's recognizing when they no longer hold.

🇺🇸 FLAG DAY🇺🇸
Our flag is always there.
From battlezones to disaster zones, from rescue missions to humanitarian operations, it remains a symbol of liberty, freedom, and the willingness to help others.
A reminder that when others need help, Americans always show up.
#flagday
🇺🇸
Memorial Day is not about war.
It is about those who never came home from it.
The fathers.
The husbands.
The daughters.
The sons.
Our brothers and sisters who carried the weight of service, duty, and sacrifice, and paid for it with their lives.
Today we remember our fallen.
Not as symbols.
Not as headlines.
But as Americans who stood their ground beside others in moments most people will never fully understand.
We honor their sacrifice.
To our brothers and sisters who gave their lives for us and for this country:
thank you.
Rest easy.
We got it from here.
Most situations do not fall apart all at once.
Usually, they narrow first.

Grateful that our President is safe and sound.
Events like this are not isolated. They are often the downstream effect of a hyper-politicized environment where rhetoric becomes incendiary and narratives can be weaponized.
In the aftermath of 9/11, while at the University of Houston, I conducted what was, at the time, the most comprehensive risk and threat assessment of a potential assassination attempt against a sitting POTUS, with the assistance of one of my professors (U.S. Army EOD - Secret Service, retired) and the United States Secret Service Houston Field Office.
That analysis examined over 110 years of magnicides worldwide and produced a conclusion that has held over time: the most likely attacker is a politically motivated or psychologically manipulated lone wolf. It also identified a consistent structure across these attacks:
* Lone-actor execution, network-influenced formation
* Grievance fused with identity
* Search for significance and legacy
* Behavioral leakage prior to action
* Impact opportunity over operational sophistication
These patterns are not anomalies, they are persistent.

Congratulations to our former Advisory Board member, @SaraCarterDC, on her confirmation as Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
We have seen your courage. We are proud of you and confident in what you will accomplish to keep America and Americans safe.
Today some of our Project DYNAMO leadership, took the stage at the Eastern Defense Summit in Charleston. President and CEO @MarioDuarteGar joined advisory board member Humberto “Bert” Hernandez on the panel “Inside the Western Hemisphere’s Emerging Security Dynamics.”
Speaking to thousands of attendees from government, military, industry and academia, Mario and Bert shared firsthand insight on the rapidly shifting landscape across the Western Hemisphere. They discussed the security challenges, geopolitical pressures and humanitarian impacts shaping the region today, offering perspectives drawn directly from their work in the Western Hemisphere, where DYNAMO teams have been operating throughout the year.
We are grateful to the Eastern Defense Summit and CDCA for providing a platform to highlight the realities unfolding across the hemisphere and the urgent need for collaborative, agile response capabilities.
