Years later, I can see how much that job shaped how I work. And lately, I’ve been thinking about my kids. I want them to have jobs that stretch them too. Not just something to do, but something to grow through.

1/3 My first job stunk. Literally.

I was sixteen and I got a job at a milk processing plant washing dirty milk crates and loading trucks with cartons each week. Over two years, I learned how to do just about everything at the plant—most of it dirty, smelly, and hard. I’d come home smelling of sour milk, skin waterlogged, legs aching from long shifts.

What stuck with me wasn’t just the hard work. It was being trusted to do something that mattered. I appreciated the challenge of pushing past what I thought I could do and I liked knowing that the harder I worked, the faster the job got done. Some days, I’d unload an entire semi of milk crates in an hour—and feel unstoppable. I learned perseverance. And patience.

This week, with no formal announcement, @Etsy cut off hundreds of partners from being able to use their API to receive shipping data or mark orders as shipped. This only affects new connections, but will severely limit who can use Etsy tools for automated fulfillment. I wrote about this in the link here. https://t.co/1GyU4iOR44
