@bctoday Can a non-MLA be appointed as a Minister? Would love to see @SoniaFurstenau as Minister of the Env, as a condition of the @BCGreens cooperation with the NDP.
@gdholtby@kittypurrzog You're making a lot of assumptions in drawing that conclusion. I think it's dangerous to do that when you're responding to a tweet written be someone known to be transphobic. There are better ways to supper gender diverse folks.
@gdholtby@kittypurrzog Sexual violence is almost always about asserting power & control. This is why women & gender non-conforming folks are targeted - not because of what's in their pants, but because of the lack of power they're granted under patriarchy.
@gdholtby@kittypurrzog Regardless, why not advocate for NBs in the zones that will be most impacted by climate change? I don't follow your reasoning that their inclusion (listed as a separate category) implies they just believe NBs to be women. That seems to be your assumption here.
@gdholtby@kittypurrzog I question the assumption that they mean biological women here. Women are more vulnerable to violence in conflict zones not because of their anatomy but because of gendered structures which disempower them - this is true even more so for people with marginalized genders.
@gdholtby@kittypurrzog What are you arguing here? That NB shouldn't be included? That NB don't face marginalization comparable to women? That anytime gender is mentioned NB should be as well? Trying to understand what's upsetting about this post for you.
What a deep honour to witness this historic moment. It's incredibly exciting to see Indigenous and Crown stewardship come together through this pilot. A long overdue recognition of the skills, authority, and capacity of the Guardians.
Nuxalk Guardians have also received Parks Ranger badges and authorities, after years of hard work, relationship building and Ranger training. They will remain Guardians, the eyes and ears of their lands and waters, with a new set of tools in the toolkit. #Reconciliation#BCPoli
The Kitasoo Xai'xais and Nuxalk Nations have worked long and hard for this moment. So excited for the Guardians to take on these new powers and for the Crown to recognize Indigenous authority through this exciting new pilot.
Kitasoo Xai’Xais Guardians & those at the helm have been working towards this for years — shared authority & power with #BCParks, achieving their own Parks Ranger badges & authorities while remaining the ancestral stewards of their territories. #Reconciliation#BCPoli#GoodNews
We did it!! Free universal prescription contraception was included in the 2023 BC Provincial Budget and will be available for all British Columbians starting April 1st!! 🥳🎉🎈

Congratulations to the Nuxalk Nation on the repatriation of an ancestor, a house entrance pole carved by Louie Snuxyaltwa taken in the early 1900s. They’re bringing their artifact home to its rightful place. #Repatriation@RoyalBCMuseum@NuxalkRadio
@gdholtby@Chinchillazllla What's preventing us from doing both? I hear you that a focus on language can be co-opted to calm dissent/mobilization, but it can also be a motivator to galvanize important change. I don't think we need to position it as one or the other.
