@Warrior_Mukul August has come and gone but there has been no news on listing of the #NFU case as ordered by Hon’ble Supreme Court about five months ago.
News of a civilian employee in carpenter trade. Why’s there a picture of fighter aircraft and a air warrior in uniform in image with the news? 👉🏼 “Delhi High Court upholds forced retirement of IAF employee who ‘faked’ union receipts to collect money”

The #OROP argument is misleading. If Officer pensions are as per NFU, the additional outgo would subsume OROP expenditure. 👉🏼 “'Want equal status': Military veterans await SC ruling as NFU legal battle drags on” https://t.co/TXnQfMikbs
@KesariDhwaj While dwelling on “meritocracy” the write-up loses sight of a basic fact that no Officer would give up aspirations to higher ranks and responsibilities just because of NFU which merely compensates for truncated careers and steep pyramid applicable to armed forces Officers.
@ashokkmrsingh@mukulnda It is not just IAS/IPS. All group A Officers enjoy the same advantage over armed forces Officers on account of #NFU granted to them.
@rwac48@kbssidhu1961 Sir, If civilian cadres have ensured justice for themselves, it does not amount to obtaining a benefit illegally or unethically. But this phrase has continued to stick in my mind over the years 👉🏼 “ #OROP of a kind at officer level through the back-door” https://t.co/coHJF9Ybtv
@Warrior_Mukul All affected are grateful for such timely updates. Order of Hon’ble Supreme Court in the case and detailed explanations of the order’s implications would be of tremendous importance and interest.
@thetribunechd The quality of counselling that the young former Officer received could have had a bearing on the outcome as well. Religious activities within units can also be organised in a manner so as not to hurt personal belief systems of Officers and soldiers.
In such places, people might elect governments, but not the structures that govern the government 👉🏼 “Ties with Pak will never improve until people’s govt is elected there: Farooq: The Tribune”

@w_karve A thought provoking blog post. The problem with issues like #NFFU or #OROP is the lack of engagement by affected veterans themselves. Nowadays, even online discussions on these still unresolved matters have become rare. It is as if veterans have given in to defeatist mindsets.
@AjitKakkar Many months later, the outcome is still not known and the fate of pensions of pre Dec 2004 retirees with more than 26 years of service in ranks of Lt Col, both select and time-scale, is still a mystery.
@Warrior_Mukul Anyone common sense would also realise NCOs and OR from units would not be “benefitted” by #OROP. Their pension would be based on their last pay drawn. Only in 2029 would next OROP revision take place, which would then give some benefits, marred by anomalies, to older retirees.
@coronaeight If at all (that's a big 'if') pre AVS-I Lt Col retirees finally get pensions of Col(TS) because of Hon'ble Supreme Court judgement then arrears for entire period fm 16Dec04 including #OROP fixations/revisions would need to be calculated on these lines 👉 https://t.co/2DStpSNV75
@corruptioninIN Making wild sweeping statements without concrete data only serves to discredit opinions. Serious matters deserve presentation of proper analysis.
Even as litigation on #NFU now appears to heading towards an outcome and though #OROP revision has come and gone, the ambiguities of 5 years ago still remain. 👉🏼 “Non Functional Financial Upgradation And OROP” https://t.co/5f9IiXIfr3
Views and opinions of this nature, wrong or right, are nowadays far and in between 👉🏼 “Whither India’s Armed Forces: Politicisation by Default or Design?” https://t.co/TAmRbeMjUL
@IndiaExplained I suppose most Indian immigrants received their immigrant status legally after obtaining qualifications and earning their place in a society and country of their choosing based on merit and not by landing on some shore on a dark night. Hence the reservation against gate crashers.
@satbirsm Sir, updates on steps taken by IESM to correct #OROP anomalies, such as those applying to veteran Officers in Maj rank, are nowadays few and far between.
