1/ Controversial take: hard work is more important than smart work.
It's a myth that we only have a few hours of good creative work per day. Train yourself to grind long hours first. You will surprise yourself. The work naturally become higher quality, less distracted.
the biggest trading learning i got from picking up poker was my vpip/burn rate was too high (it still is)
i played too many hands, i bet too often and too much in marginal spots. i leverage traded eth on a coin flip. see the parallel. i think part of what pains me with daily runners/kols is i see a lot of marginal spots being taken/peddled
remove as many marginal spots as you can from your trading and bet the house on what you have rightfully placed conviction in
One of the craziest story in all of venture capital right now is how the CTO at Openrouter was also one of the founders at OpenSea
I doubt anyone has built two deca-billion dollar companies atop aggregation theory - back to back.
Instead of crying about the NFT crash, man simply built the next big thing. The approach seems to be similar in both businesses
- find core fungible commodity with heavy demand
- build singular endpoints for commodity to be purchased
- take a % of transaction going through the market
The interesting part is that in both businesses the marginal time for production is next to 0 once a frontier lab /open-source model releases an end-point. There are limitations of time (induced by gpu/research constraints) but unlike irl commodities (gold, silver) - in both opensea and open router the marginal cost of replenishment is next to nil.
I have never seen a founder re-invent himself so fast, in two entirely isolated, fast-moving industries. Something about that psyche
New pfp! I commissioned @furuyagi0116 for this cool artwork. I always had the imagination to combine Javanese mythology and the market for art, but Kajino helped realize it. Happy with the work and his approach. Truly underrated artist
