After hearing the news that the ICSE board had removed a story — Jamun ka ped written in the 1960s by Krishnan Chander — from the syllabus. I tried to find an English translation and failed. I found a Hindi version, and tried translating it into English.
I have redrawn the secular change figure including the data of this year's full bloom date (4.4.2025) for Prunus jamasakura cherry trees in Arashiyama, Kyoto.
Used a lot of the major house hunting sites about ten days ago. This is the amount of love I got from @magicbricks since then. Since unsubscribing didn't help, tried blocking email ids too.

There is a new flyover coming up at the Silkboard signal.
I've added a circle on the image below (screenshot from a video by @DeccanHerald on the flyover), where I think a traffic jam will develop in about two weeks after the flyover opens.

The Economics of Mis-selling
Or why financial institutions institutionalise mis-selling.
And how those actually mis-selling are able to sleep well at night.
And how even those who do not want to mis-sell financial products are not able to do so.
And finally, while it is important to teach children that mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, it is also important to show them the power of compounding.
All this and more in the latest issue of the Easynomics newsletter.

@Xpozerlock After Rock On! I imagined a cricket story. Kaun Praveen Tambe covered a lot of the ground. But his story would still be a worthy addition. What a guy!
5. Let us look at topper scores in previous years:
2021: Highest score was 720/720 and 3 students obtained it.
2022: Not a single student got the perfect score. The highest was 715 and 4 students got it.
2023: Two students got the perfect score.
2024: 67 students got 720/720.

Someone wrote a long post about how their father isn't getting a date for surgery in a govt hospital and they cannot afford private. And my heart goes out to their situation.
Someone found dozens of tweet by same person regurgitating "People should not be given freebies" from publications like OpIndia and quoting Narayan Murthy etc.
And for this I blame ghouls like Mr. Murthy and the media who'll say these things that the very poor people, who actually *NEED* the 'freebies' to survive, start believing.
This person is now getting help (yes getting "freebies" they are actually against) from the government after they got viral on social media - but thousands like them die everyday because they don't have the fortune of going viral on Twitter.
If you pay Rs. 2 tax it suddenly feels good to go out and shout "stop freebies", but keep the reality of the nation in the mind. And also highly likely your school/college was a freebie. A large majority of Indians (including me) have studied with subsidised education even if we didn't exactly realise it at that moment.
