@HelmanDaniel @seamsay Sean would know better but imo they are so many available interactions for a general molecule that unless you make most of the constituents heavy, configuration states aren't a useful description at all.

@seamsay It should split into a COM and relative motion. The COM part is trivial with HPA, but dropping would mean config states are now eigenstates of just the relative Hamiltonian, which need not commute with the full one.

Surprising because it means "real" H ground state is not 1s.

What you are doing is using a recurrence relation to tie a higher power to lower ones.
