everyone uses the where is my train app for reliable real time train information, it works even without internet.. why has google still not added an AI button to it.. like ask maps.. it will solve planning problems of millions of people daily.. @GoogleIndia
ok a short primer on why young people in India are getting frustrated and what i'm observing around me. not mincing my words:
- roughly 15 lakh (~1.5m) engineers graduate per year (~100 lak or 10m across every degree),
- had a rough period with Covid,
- now AI coming which is touted to take a few (many?) digital jobs,
- many can't find meaningful work (by meaningful I mean something that doesn't fit the definition of a job in David Graeber's Bullshit Jobs),
- stock market has not grown recently, so no capital gains with your savings,
- inflation eating away at what you have,
- we are not inherently a manufacturing country the way China is, and ordinary people don't know how to enter manufacturing either,
- no R&D muscle, so everyone who wants to do research *has* to go abroad (our R&D expenditure is only like 0.7% of GDP),
- huge barrier and learning curve to get into anything physical,
- corruption and bureaucracy which makes it challenging to do things in the physical world, software was the only haven,
- housing prices ballooning with real estate sitting in its own bubble ($300k for an average apartment),
- you're not guaranteed a job after college now, like you were 10 years ago. true hiring is down across the board because we have trained ourselves in an abundance of digital skills and now they're being automated away,
- infra in metros like Bangalore are worse than ever before, so no solace in the physical world,
- rising costs are outpacing entry level salaries, exacerbated by war which means even cost of basic goods don't deflate for a while,
- degrees are mostly worthless,
- emigration is much harder now and not as high ROI as before, if you're not top 0.1%,
- and most importantly, economy is becoming K shaped because of AI, which basically means only a few will be valued because they are top 1% and all of the value/wealth will accrue with them, making it difficult for the rest
my only hope is that in the long term, tech is the one true deflationary factor, which hopefully fixes a lot of this
Here’s an idea to rethink education in the age of AI.
Flip homework.
Have students learn at home with an AI, but have them attempt a pen-and-paper “homework” in the class daily. The teacher collects the in-class assignments, grades them and discusses mistakes on the blackboard.
Grade students continuously from these assignments. Each student always knows in realtime how they’re doing in that subject and adjusts effort accordingly. No final exams needed.
near perfect visuals but actually reading the book and imagining the scenes in head has no match ever cuz every reader has their own way of imagination and each one is customised to give unprecedented thrill.. my keshav is different than others
There are two things I love. Storytelling and Technology. So when the two of them merge, it’s all the more fascinating.
Working with @KoyalAI , an AI assisted filmmaking company, to create a graphic novel/animated style film clip of The Girl in Room 105. This is one of the first scenes of the book, where Keshav goes with his friend Saurabh to wish Zara on her birthday.
The entire film was made using AI. Yes, the AI read the book, some prompts were given, and this film clip was created. @KoyalAI is a @ycombinator backed AI company led by Indian brother-sister duo @meh_agarwal and @gauri_al , who pulled this off to show what tech can do to enable Indian storytelling and take it to the next level.
For me personally, I have been fascinated by AI and deeply immersed in many AI companies of late. It’s always exciting to learn new things and as I always say - adapt to the new times.
Let me know what you think!
Genuine Question:
Enormous effort goes into Aadhaar - biometrics & linkages. The infra for easy verification. Ability to view and change data. Mobile number connected. All good.
So, why not simply add just two more fields to Aadhaar?
a) Citizenship - Indian or Not
b) Residence Address (Verified)
And then that 12-digit number can be your id for voting, paying tax and any other dealings with government. No need of PAN or Voter Id. And one-shot proof for passport.

Obsession beats Talent ....
There will be an illiterate generation with zero attention span in the next 10 years. People will become more informed about everything but lack any depth of knowledge they won’t even have surface-level knowledge. With zero attention spans, it becomes very hard to explain things. Thanks to social media. The next pandemic is Brainrot.
My entire philosophy is contained in just 3 sentences : (1) India's real problems are our massive poverty, massive unemployment, appalling level of child malnutrition ( every second Indian child is malnourished, according to Global Hunger Index ), skyrocketing prices of food and other essential commodities, almost total lack of proper healthcare and good education for our masses etc
(2) To abolish these huge evils we must transform India into a modern industrial giant, like China, for which we have all the potential, with our huge pool of bright engineers and scientists, and immense natural resources
(3) For doing that we must have a united protracted people's struggle led by patriotic modern minded leaders, in which tremendous sacrifices have to be made, culminating in a historical people's revolution, after which there will be rapid industrialization and steady rise in the standard of living of the Indian people
How China protects the Gaokao- it’s college entrance exams (13M+ students):
- Papers printed in ultra-secure facilities under 24/7 surveillance
- Armoured, GPS-tracked transport
- Facial recognition & biometric verification
- AI cameras, drones & signal jammers to stop cheating
- Cities reduce traffic, halt construction & reroute flights to ensure silence
🇮🇳 It would be a good idea for our new Education Minister @JoshiPralhad to study this model for our NEET/JEE exams.
We have to treat our national exams as national security events. And secure the chain end-to-end with biometric access, AI surveillance, live tracking, and airtight accountability.
