i just learned that in chinese, yungi is referred to as 大竹 (dà zhú) which means big bamboo

and then 竹/bamboo -> 竹马 (zhú mǎ),

which is short for 竹馬之友 (zhú mǎ zhī yǒu), an idiom that refers to childhood friends/friends who know each other since childhood ~
