Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are engaged. Time to talk about weddings rings.
That old “2–3 months’ salary” rule? It’s a marketing invention from the 1930s by De Beers to sell more diamonds. Let’s run the numbers instead:
From a CFO perspective, here’s a healthier framework:
1.Cap it at 5% of annual take-home pay.
2.Use cash flow, not credit. A ring financed on a credit card at 20% interest could double in cost if not paid quickly.
3.Consider opportunity cost. A $10,000 ring invested in the S&P 500 historically grows to ~$43,000 in 20 years.
✨ Bottom line: Whether you’re Travis & Taylor or not, the symbol of commitment matters more than the size of the diamond. Love compounds over time — so should your money.

Santa Maria Aquamarine – When the Ocean Lives in a Gemstone 💎
- Most aquamarines are known for their light, sky-blue sparkle soft, gentle, and calming.
- Its color runs deeper, like the Atlantic at storm depth rich, intense teal that feels alive. This remarkable hue first appeared in the 1950s in Santa Maria de Itabira, Brazil.
- It wasn’t magic but geology: the perfect balance of iron trace elements inside beryl’s crystal structure shifted the color from pale blue to ocean-deep, without losing the clarity that makes aquamarine so loved.
- The Santa Maria deposit produced its finest treasures for only a short time. By the 1980s, serious mining had slowed, and the name “Santa Maria” became less about location and more about color quality.
- Today, only gems with that rare intensity of saturation earn the tag whether they come from Brazil, Mozambique, or Nigeria.
Why Scarcity Defines Its Value - Large, clean Santa Maria aquamarines are exceptionally rare.
- The crystal habit of beryl often forms long, slim prisms, making broad cuts like cushions or ovals hard to achieve.
- Inclusions become more common as size increases, so finding a big gem that’s both rich in color and free of flaws is extraordinary.
- Santa Maria aquamarine isn’t just a gemstone it’s geology, history, and poetry in crystal form. Every time you see that unmistakable depth of blue, it’s like looking into the heart of the ocean itself.
