So I saw the news yesterday that an American family is suing KLM for $200k because they had bed bugs in their flight.

Time to share my own story about bed bugs and KLM!

I flew to Korea last October, and a few hours into the flight we discovered a bed bug walking on my wife's sweater. After closer inspection we found dozens of eggs and multiple (young and adult) bed bugs in the head rests of our seats.

At first the staff tried to tell us it was "just dirt", so after hearing that I had to take some photos and videos as proof. In the end the staff did acknowledge the bed bugs and they wrote several reports about it.

Because the flight was full, they weren't able to offer us new seats, and suggested that we'd just sit on the infested seats. After we refused, they finally offered us the staff seats at the exits for the rest of our 12 hour flight 😅

Given the high number of eggs and different stages of bed bugs we found, it's almost certain that this infestation had been in the plane for weeks, if not months!

After arriving in Korea, I immediately filed a complaint with the KLM with a request for suitable compensation. I expected a "premium" airline like KLM to take complaints like these seriously, but after calling them multiple times in the past months, I still have not even received a reply!

So what do we think, should I sue for $200k as well?
