I started working on this piece ten years ago, as a teachers' union lawyer during the height of Recession-era critiques of public sector unionism. I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested. I'm very happy to announce it's now officially forthcoming in the Yale Law Journal.
#Labor folks, I'm looking for info on how #unions and other worker groups are dealing with employers' use of AI & automation in the workplace. Thoughts on best compilations of this info, exemplar CBA provisions, legislation, studies of worker opinions, etc? Thank you #humans!
Chuffed I got to present my research on public opinion re unions (tldr high levels of purported support may belie lingering "common sense" that we can't afford good jobs) at #asa2025 - but triple chuffed I got to comment on 5 incredible papers @ the #LPE panel. Yes, #LPE at #ASA!
@realesttheorist Thank you! This is validating! Spouse is like why don't you just use a laptop that coverts to a tablet and I'm like do you want me to have to annotate in little separate bubbles like a cave person??
Friends, fav e-ink tablets for academic work? Priorities are simple learning curve, easy to sync across devices, ability to handwrite notes directly on docs (& ideally convert those notes to typed text that can be searched), & natural writing feel without lag. Halp? #AcademicTech

NLRB attorneys told the Fifth Circuit that they won't defend NLRB members' firing protections at a Feb. 5 hearing on the agency's constitutionality in the wake of the president's removal of a board member and appointment of a new acting prosecutor. https://t.co/XXRjPxSH88
1Ls at most law schools recently received their grades. If you're one of them, and you're disappointed in how it went, please know it's absolutely possible to raise your grades—sometimes substantially—in future semesters. Fall 1L grades are not destiny.
PSA: If you're listening to an Work Law related article, being read aloud by an app, and you're wondering why there's so much talk of sea bass...the word may, in fact, be CBAs. No guarantees, but worth considering.

@danielahanley@bd_highsmith @NLRB Great. Thanks y'all! This had been my inclination too but then someone who works at the Board said "the perils of relevance" really spoke to them and it gave me pause. I think that framing is more relevant internally than externally, though. So, I'm taking your advice!
"The Perils of Relevance" or "Relitigating the New Deal" for the title of a short article contextualizing recent employer lawsuits claiming that the @NLRB is unconstitutional?#PleaseChooseMyTitle#LawTwitter
