I can't breathe the air, I can't eat lettuce, I can't afford gas, and my kids have measles. But at least now our soldiers will have enough testosterone.
In our age, science has extended life expectancy, technology has brought continents closer, and knowledge has opened horizons once thought unimaginable. Therefore, allowing millions of human beings to live—and die—stricken by hunger is a collective failure, an ethical lapse, and an historical culpability. https://t.co/joqZNWdpvp
Remember the first few months of this year, when all we talked about was DOGE and spending cuts and waste, and this administration gutted USAID?
And now they’re giving $40 billion (!) to Argentina.
Insane the amount of amnesia in this country and in our politics and media.
If you're the Qatari royal family worth $335 billion, Trump gives you an Air Force facility in Idaho.
If you're the President of Argentina, Trump gives you a $20 billion bailout.
If you're an American whose health care premiums are about to double? Tough luck.
Walz: "This is how government is supposed to work. It's not supposed to be one old man in the Oval Office sending out middle of the night tweets that shock markets into free fall. It's not supposed to be a bunch of 20 somethings unelected and firing everyone. It's not supposed to be chaos."
When I cast my vote for President Biden, I wasn't expecting much. I just wanted trump out of office.
I knew he was old.
I knew he had a stutter.
I knew he had a rep for "gaffes."
I didn't care. Just wanted trump gone.
Four years later, things are different.
I wasn't expecting that President Biden would be the most legislatively successful President in my lifetime.
I wasn't expecting him to help expand NATO.
I wasn't expecting him to lower insulin & inhalers.
I wasn't expecting him to create & recover 15m jobs.
I wasn't expecting him to bring manufacturing back.
I wasn't expecting him to forgive student debt.
But he did ALL those things, and more.
He surpassed my expectations by a lot.
And he has more planned for 2025-2028.
He's not a master orator,
He doesn't move so smoothly
But neither did FDR from his wheelchair.
Meanwhile, trump is STILL a threat.
He wants to be a dictator.
He wants to stay out of prison.
He wants revenge on his enemies.
He wants to take away from the poor and middle class and give to the ultra wealthy.
His Project 2025 will enable a national abortion ban to criminalize women seeking safe and legal abortions.
His Project 2025 will take away the rights of our LGBTQ family and friends.
His Project 2025 will transform the government into a loyalty pledge, not to America but to him ALONE.
We might never have another free election.
THAT is what is at stake in this election.
We can continue to progress with Biden policies, or we can let trump destroy democracy as we know it.
If you're looking for someone who's young and athletic, go watch a fucking movie.
I'll take the old guy who needs a nap while saving democracy over the old guy trying to overthrow democracy who needs a legal team.
We lift our gazes not
To what stands between us, But what stands before us.
We close the divide,
Because we know to put
Our future first, we must first
Put our differences aside.
Honestly, I don’t believe folks who say “new laws won’t change anything” on guns… in part because many of those same folks are actively working to change abortion laws because they know that laws change things. We KNOW that laws can save lives. The red line here is when Republicans ended the 1994 assault weapons ban in 2004.
A little sunshine on this rainy day in #Pittsburgh. Most of the time when I'm capturing the Mr. Rogers statue on the North Shore I'm facing the city, but for this view I framed the setting sun with the statue itself. Sunshine and Mr. Rogers are synonymous no matter the weather.
