Visionary policies create transformational outcomes.
Congratulations to @gupta_rekha on the Delhi EV Policy. By bypassing intermittent technologies and embracing a clear long-term vision for zero-emission mobility, Delhi has demonstrated the power of policy certainty.
This forward-looking approach will help India technologically leapfrog, strengthen innovation, boost domestic manufacturing, and enhance energy security. It also sets a new benchmark for other States and UTs to accelerate the transition to electric mobility.
🇮🇳 PM @narendramodi’s advisory amid the West Asia crisis is a wake-up call India cannot afford to ignore.
India imports 87% of its crude - and the West Asia crisis is the perfect moment to turn this challenge into our greatest opportunity. The answer isn’t panic - it’s accelerated transformation.
🚇 Metros & Public transport must become the default, not the exception
⚡ EV adoption : 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, buses, trucks - must move to mission mode NOW
🚂 Railways for freight movement across the country
🚗 Carpooling wherever private vehicles are unavoidable
🏔️ Domestic tourism over overseas vacations - India’s breathtaking diversity is unmatched. Every trip within India saves forex & strengthens the economy.
India has done transformational change at scale before: Jan Dhan, UPI, Solar, COVID vaccination. We went from Euro IV to Euro VI bypassing Euro V. India moves fast when it decides to.
The West Asia crisis must be the inflection point for 100% electrification of 2 & 3-wheelers by 2028 and full electrification of public bus fleets.
Every metro ride, every EV on the road, every carpool - is India’s answer to geopolitical crisis.
The future is electric. The time is NOW.

The turbulence in West Asia is a warning. But it is also a window of opportunity.
India must decisively break free from fossil fuel dependence, strengthen its economic resilience, and emerge as a global leader in the clean energy transition. This off ramp from fossil fuels to clean energy (wind, solar, offshore and storage) is the big quantum jump which India must undertake.
The choices made today will determine whether India remains vulnerable to external shocks or becomes a nation that shapes its own energy destiny.

Is AI the end of the services model, or the beginning of its most valuable chapter? And will Indian firms lead that chapter – or will they be disrupted by it?
I asked industry leaders @SalilParekh (Infosys CEO), @k_krithivasan (TCS CEO), @CVijayakumarHCL (HCLTech CEO & MD), @arundhati_b (Salesforce India Chairperson & CEO) & if AI will wipe them out in 5 years, and they all said a confident NO.
According to them the age of AI is a period of reinvention from “buy to build”and India's IT sector will continue to be a driver of growth and job creation.
Fascinating conversation with CEOs at #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026.

AI cannot remain the preserve of a few large firms or elite consumers. It must function as a foundational capability, embedded into public service delivery and everyday economic activity.
Build open, interoperable rails, allow competition and let scale dramatically reduce costs.
@amitabhk87 Indeed, a power-packed session that will bring together some of the most compelling insights from global thought leaders on building Digital Public Infrastructure for AI in India.
The most power-packed exchange at India’s #AISummit with leading voices from India and the world on the next big leap with AI in our Digital Public Infrastructure journey.
As India accelerates in AI, the conversation must move from frameworks to execution - building population-scale, interoperable digital rails, trusted institutions, and open networks that unlock innovation for startups, enterprises and millions of MSMEs.
Fairfax Centre for Free Enterprise brings together an exceptional global panel at India AI Mission 2026 to shape how AI DPI can drive inclusion, competitiveness and responsible growth.

India is open for cloud and AI at scale, with a 21-year tax holiday for foreign firms providing could services using Indian data centres. To make this sustainable, we must pair digital infrastructure with firm, additional clean power, modern grids and water efficiency. Scale, certainty and climate ambition must move together.
If Cloud growth is guided by coordinated planning, it can strengthen energy security and reinforce India’s credibility as a climate leader, while building resilient digital infrastructure for the next generation of innovation.
I write with @AdilRChhina in today’s Hindustan Times:

India’s growth depends on staying open while being secure. A risk-based, transparent FDI regime, rather than blanket restrictions like Press Note 3 will safeguard national security while attracting global capital, technology, and jobs.
Predictability, transparency, and clear thresholds are essential to crowd-in foreign direct investment, drive job creation, and deepen domestic capabilities. Co-authoring with @RanveerNagaich, we make the argument that openness, when designed right, is not a vulnerability but a strategic advantage.
@amitabhk87 AI must be treated like India’s next-generation roads and highways - foundational public infrastructure that enables growth at scale. It should be open, affordable, and easy to adopt, so every citizen, startup, and MSME can build, compete, and prosper.
India’s AI journey is accelerating - anchored in world-class digital public infrastructure and global leadership in AI talent, startups, and adoption.
🧠 Building AI DPI - on the lines of Aadhaar & UPI is the key. Population-scale, interoperable digital rails can power responsible AI, reduce compliance friction, and broaden participation for MSMEs - strengthening India’s free-enterprise ecosystem.

Excellent news. Compliments to PM @narendramodi for protecting India’s national interests and for being firm, astute, seasoned and laser focused in his approach. This trade deal will provide a huge impetus to the India - US bilateral relationship and generate growth and jobs in both countries. The deal between the largest economy and the soon to be third largest economy in the world is a progressive step forward for humankind.
India’s gig & quick-commerce economy is consumer-led.
🇮🇳 Gig jobs are set to grow from 7.7M → 23.5M by 2030 — among India’s largest job-creation engines. Calling this “exploitation” by folks who have not created a single job is political, not factual.
On Dec 31 alone, Zomato + Blinkit delivered 75L+ orders. That demand came from millions of Indians choosing speed, convenience & value.
Politicising the gig economy will kill quick commerce, destroy jobs & push workers back into the informal sector (zero rights, zero safety). @raghav_chadha and AAP are not job creators ; they are job killers.
@deepigoyal & @sbikh are right: let markets work, strengthen safety nets — don’t sabotage innovation for political ends.
Remembering the extraordinary Arun Jaitley on his 73rd birth anniversary. His vision, wisdom, and statesmanship continue to inspire. I had the privilege of working closely with him, and his contributions to India's growth story remain unmatched. A true leader, a great human being. A Gr8 Minister for civil servants. #ArunJaitley #Leadership
MGNREGA was enacted in 2005 for a very different rural economy. Nearly two decades later, Parliament has replaced it with the Viksit Bharat – G RAM G Act, 2025, reflecting how rural India, labour markets, and governance capacity have structurally changed. Electrification, roads, digital payments, DBT and more diversified livelihoods mean a wage-employment law designed for a low-capacity, cash-based system needed updating to remain effective.
Evidence also revealed design limits. CAG audits and independent studies showed that MGNREGA utilisation was often lowest in the poorest states and districts, while relatively better-off states absorbed a larger share of funds. The self-targeting assumption weakened over time.
The new law shifts focus from relief to productive rural employment, linking wage work to durable assets, water security, climate resilience and livelihood infrastructure—addressing long-standing concerns about fragmented, low-impact works. The statutory guarantee has been strengthened from 100 to 125 days, while improved digital monitoring, faster payments and clearer accountability reflect higher governance capacity.
My analysis is that this is not dilution of social protection, but an evidence-based update of a 2005 law, aligning rural employment with productivity, accountability and today’s rural realities.
Unforgettable visit to Nalanda Mahavihara! 🌟 In 5th C AD, this magnificent structure was a hub for debate, public speaking, maths, and medicine.
Sadly, destroyed by invader Bhaktiyar Khalji, but its legacy lives on.
Today, it's a World Heritage Site, beautifully preserved by ASI. A true jewel of India's heritage 💎 #Nalanda #WorldHeritage #India @nalanda_univ@nalandalittfest
India stands at the centre of the world’s technology future and global investors responding with unprecedented commitment.
In the past few days, Amazon has committed more than 35 billion $ Microsoft has pledged 17.5 billion $ for cloud and AI infrastructure, and Google has announced 15 billion $ for new data centres and AI capacity. Starlink is preparing its entry into India and several other global technology firms are expanding across AI, cloud, cyber security and data infrastructure.
This adds up to over 70 billion $ of long term investment that will deepen India’s digital capabilities, create high quality jobs and strengthen our leadership in the global technology economy.
The momentum behind India’s digital growth story has never been stronger. 🇮🇳
