@elonmusk@yacineMTB@Rainmaker1973 Just because we can't detect anything smaller than a pixel, does not mean that the universe is made of pixels arranged in a regular specitime lattice.
A brick in a wall is 1 size, but you can create walls with smaller than 1 brick overlaps between layers.
@MatthewSwainson@alexnunns Competition in commercial terms means value added at the similar price (allowed by cheaper workforce or cutting corners) or worse quality but cheaper. A provider finding a niche nobody else covers is a monopolist in that niche.
Spreadsheets for complex healthcare needs a sham.
@naflasco Just to add to sheer awe: these doors are made from metal (possibly bronze), weight tonnes and can be open by a single person. That's unimaginable feat. I hung doors in the past and the smallest shift of any of the hinges screws things up. This is proper art of engineering.
@GergelyOrosz What if this is deliberate strategy to find candidates without good English? From comments it seems that multinationals requiring English pay more. This way you are fishing in the smaller but also cheaper pond.
@Dylan_Morri Modularity _can_ be cheaper because from TCO PoV you hopefully can change only the faulty module. Modularity has material and conceptual cost, but allows for easier and quicker recovery. Often comes with standardisation which can allow for competition.
@GergelyOrosz There ought to be somewhere a correlation between clean solutions and smaller number of tokens required for LLMs to scrutinise the code base.
If it is true, then clean code and refactoring hacks will become techniques du jour.
@garyalan82@GlenWilsonIA@HedgieMarkets And the companies using it as struggling to extract value. It is telling that all major consultancies have ROI for AI projects brochures SEO-ing their way to the top of search results.
@davidsenra@ToKTeacher Great take! Mortality rates, life expectancy, poverty etc show positive picture over the years, and biggest growth in developing countries.
In developed world, purchasing power growth rates are slower than slopes of growth of billionaires. Folks are saying: share more.

@mikemcg0 Digital has Moore's Law and resulting economics. Without growing budgets by much you will double your capacity to store and process data in few years.
This powers a lot of progress.
@HansCNelson@nvidia@xai@GavinSBaker@elonmusk Isn't the fact that Nvidia dropped $2B on xAi skewing the bias here a little?
Regarding scale: Google already performs ai inference for most of Google searches, so argument about data centre build out is moot, as in Google already deployed at massive scale, while xAi is loading..
@Mostlyy_Human@dom_lucre But Minecraft has universe boundaries you can hit easily try going above Y=320 or digging below bedrock. Where are such boundaries in our simulation? We keep on seeing further and further or smaller and smaller. Complexity grows like a fractal of fractals everywhere you look.
@DCharles30@theinformation Could it be that drumming up investment in DCs secures OpenAI's future for longer as sunk cost magic will force many CEOs to keep investing while planning the hard landing?
@TrungTPhan There is coffee as chill time of taking the life in and there is coffee as a fuel to cortisol and anxiety filled rat race.
Is my day going to improve that much if I shaved off 2min to be quicker at my desk?
