NEH Funded Institute for Digital Archaeology Method & Practice. Organized by @MSUAnthropology & @Matrix_MSU. Directed by @captain_primate & @lynnegoldstein
Very happy to receive official word today that my leave for Spring 2021 has been granted. I'll be working with @ekansa and @oc_sarah to expand and refine my Virtual Valdivia @OpenContext database on Valdivia ceramics, a project started at @digitalarchaeo. #msudai FTW!
This description of "Big Dick Data" describes so many of the tech/digital-driven projects I've encountered...and highlights why #msudai and it's collaborative and caring ethos was/is such a departure and made for such a great learning environment.
Today I'm at a National Preservation Institute course on emerging technologies for cultural resources. Excited to continue expanding digital skills learned at @chi_initiative and #msudai
I created introductory videos for a GIS workshop at the @SHA_org conference. They are available for your use here (licenced CC-BY): https://t.co/rXfIXeELoo Another product of #MSUDAI / @digitalarchaeo
Super excited to see that #msudai mentor @kfitz is giving the talk “Working in Public: Open Scholarship and Generous Thinking” @IllinoisStateU on Oct 25! https://t.co/U8LhxBVmT9
In newest volume of @APjournal you'll find my article on the Monumental Archive Project, launched as part of #msudai to make my @UoYArchaeology PhD data on cemeteries in Barbados #openaccess (bonus: article is also open access + discusses open data, #pubarch + mortuary arch)
The NEH funded MSU @digitalarchaeo Institue on Digital Archaeology Method and Practice was TRANSFORMATIVE! Thanks to Lynn and Ethan, the experts, my fellow participants and the new cadre of digital archaeology scientists
