Azure Printed Homes has partnered with @DignityMoves and the @CountyofSLO on Welcome Home Village — a transformative re-housing project designed to provide safe, dignified interim supportive housing for individuals experiencing homelessness.
We had the opportunity to meet with @AsmLizOrtega for meeting with our team & partners from @CSHInfo, @mercyhousing, @DignityMoves, @SCCHousing, and Opportunities for Change (OFC). We appreciate you taking the time to hear from advocates and for the impact you are making!🏘️
From groundbreaking to grand opening in just ten months! This is the 11th shelter community we’ve opened this year — and once this site is at full capacity, we’ll have moved over 1,000 people off the streets in just 12 months. This approach is the reason why we’ve seen unsheltered homelessness go down year over year — in fact, for the first time in city history, we’re nearing a 50% sheltered rate, meaning that half of our homeless population has a bed to sleep in each night and access to the services that will help them get back to self-sufficiency.
Thanks to our Vice Mayor @PamFoleyD9 and the community in D9 for welcoming these new neighbors so warmly. Another huge thank you goes to to the philanthropic donors that made this project possible, our state partners @CAgovernor and @CaltransD4, as well as @DignityMoves and @valleywater, who generously donated the land.

“We’ve sent men to the moon and mapped the human genome. Surely we can find a way to provide four walls and a roof for fellow humans. As the founder and CEO of @DignityMoves, I believe that with pragmatism and political will, it can be done.” https://t.co/qCyLt8UwjC
San José is making real progress toward achieving functional zero unsheltered homelessness, thanks to serious investment in housing, including interim housing.
When people have safe, dignified options, they say yes. We’re proud to partner with the City on 3 communities to date to help make that possible!
You would think all responsible political leaders would embrace changes that save lives, save money, protect the most vulnerable, and protect the community at large.
You would be wrong. https://t.co/j3hymuKH47
Purpose-led work requires purpose-led support.
@DignityMoves outsourced their financial needs to Jitasa so they’d have the capacity to make the greatest difference possible in California ending homelessness.
DignityMoves does the heavy lifting (literally) to provide private spaces that allows people to get off the street. Jitasa does the backoffice bookkeeping and accounting work that helps organize their finances.

How do nonprofits stay mission-focused in the face of growing financial complexity?
@DignityMoves chose to work with a partner to take the financials off their plate. They let Jitasa handle setting up and maintaining the financial systems, allowing their team to focus on the most important thing: their mission to end homelessness.
You can see all the work they do and the many many lives impacted in the film produced for us by BBC StoryWorks. Those lives changed through these nonprofits are the reason we do what we do here at Jitasa. See it for yourself in this film:

At Jitasa, we believe in empowering changemakers. The inspiring work of the thousands of nonprofits we serve is what drives us daily.
@DignityMoves’ CEO and founder, Elizabeth, is one of those changemakers. She’s working every day to end homelessness in her community. Jitasa’s bookkeeping and accounting services play just one piece of the puzzle for her team, but it’s an important piece!
With more organized financial systems, Elizabeth was able to put more time and effort into her mission and more energy into her world-changing nonprofit. See the massive impact they had in California in the film produced for us by BBC StoryWorks.

Glad to report that my #SB16, which directs @California_HCD to come up with a plan for ending unsheltered homelessness within 10 years, has passed the Senate on a 26-1 vote. We do not lack compassion for homelessness in this state. What we need is a goal and a strategy, to end unsheltered homelessness. @DignityMoves@BayAreaCouncil
The state went from not having a homelessness plan to stepping up in unprecedented ways, and ending unsheltered homelessness is now one of California’s top goals. Dignified interim housing is how we get there. Check out @CAgovernor@GavinNewsom at the Bay Area-Silicon Valley Summit.
The Supreme Court’s Grants Pass decision last summer has accelerated the building of tiny home shelters, as cities now feel they can compel people living on the streets to go there
Today I had the most hopeful homeless-related tour in San Francisco ever! @DignityMoves really speaks my language - focus on rapid housing NOW for anyone sleeping outdoors. Unsheltered street homeless is our most acute crisis. TY @ElizabethFunk1 for your know how!
Kuddos to Newsom and the State for upgrading the State "excess land" program-- allowing housing developers to take advantage of unused public property for housing. Vacant land is a valuable resource! https://t.co/RzC1kzkmmD
