https://t.co/RTKD6LJv2U Very nice article about the impressive progress the @CityofSanJose is making under the leadership of @MattMahanSJ in the quest to end street homelessness citywide. It's not perfect, and he gets lots of backlash for it. But progess should be celebrated
I was honored to moderate one of the panels today at this impressive summit. Heartening to hear a shift in focus to ending the urgent humanitarian crisis on our streets.
It is abundantly clear that we can end unsheltered street homelessness within a matter of years. We have the models and tools to do it - we just need the collective agreement that immediate action is needed to increase our interim shelter options to get people connected to #HousingNow. Panel 2 was a success and thanks to leaders @CMWhitburnD3, @SDDistAtty@SummerStephan, and @VoteKMelendez, and @ElizabethFunk1!

We CAN reach functional zero unsheltered homelessness quicker than we think and we have leaders like @MayorToddGloria, @MattMahanSJ, and @D4SupMonica who are making a demonstrable step in the right direction to make that happen. We must overcome bureaucratic hurdles and roadblocks to site interim housing quickly to help those most vulnerable get inside as soon as possible.

Today I had the most hopeful homeless-related tour in San Francisco ever! @DignityMoves really speaks my language - focus on rapid housing NOW for anyone sleeping outdoors. Unsheltered street homeless is our most acute crisis. TY @ElizabethFunk1 for your know how!
I loved chatting with @MattMahanSJ about @CityofSanJose 's plans to reach "functional zero unsheltered" and the role of interim housing, including @DignityMoves 's 3 new ISH communities. Listen starting 16:40 https://t.co/9IgsPBHf8A

Support Pancake Sundays for DignityMoves https://t.co/VvI8mLCdhc Some generous-hearted high schoolers are making pancake breakfasts at DignityMoves every Sunday. Join me in helping them raise $ for supplies! This is what true community is all about.
They’ve upgraded me from a shovel to an excavator! Today, we literally broke ground on Via del Oro — the latest iteration of our interim housing solutions. We’ll build 150 low-cost, relocatable sleeping cabins on underutilized private land, offer housing to the homeless neighbors in the direct vicinity of the site and finally establish no-encampment zones around the site to preserve our progress. Together, we can create a safer, cleaner, better city for everyone.
@TEDchris Wow. What a goodbye. I am a huge believer in choice and dignity at the end of life. I still wish dearly when my mother was dying that I'd been open-minded enough. Death With Dignity works to expand States with this right. @supportDWD I didnt know Lesley but what a strong woman!
THIS is how you say goodbye. An astonishing woman. This talk of hers was so brave, so powerful. https://t.co/0CzUIqHo1r And this letter is simply stunning. Rest in peace, dear Lesley. Your words, your wisdom will be with us forever.
Mary Huss, your visionary leadership over these many years has helped our region reach all those boom times after the busts. Thank you for your many years of service! We can't wait to see that Pixar film with screenplay by Mary Huss. @SFBusinessTimes 😉

https://t.co/zHgPAuBJ0I Honored that @DignityMoves, and @oakland will be building a #homekey project for 40 seniors experiencing chronic homelessness. Seniors are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population-- tragic.
@DignityMoves Events like this remind me how important it is for the housed community to meet their unhoused neighbors. We need to break down barriers and build a more compassionate society. What a difference our young learners can make. 💪💫 #EmpathyMatters#DignityMovesForward
7th graders volunteered at DignityMoves. Some parents didn't let their kids go, fearing for their safety. That kind of stereotype perpetuates the problem. Instead the press picked up on a beautiful learning moment. Obviously more of these are needed.

for joining us in ending unsheltered homelessness county-wide in @countyofsb
With public/private partnerships it really can be done, restoring dignity to our neighbors and region. #endhomelessness
Really proud of the success of our first Santa Barbara DignityMoves community. People are thriving! And the local community says there have been NO complaints. Next: DignityNOW -- end unsheltered homelessness in the entire county in one initiative!
