@CityPowerJhb we have been loadshed since 12:00 electricity never returned and already it’s 15:00. If loadshedding will be implemented again on our block it will be 6 hours straight. This is injustice, take us back to Eskom loadshedding because this doesn’t make sense at all

In 2013, the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements conducted a land audit to determine how much land is owned by the government. In the process, the department 'discovered' the Mia family owns Waterfall and other huge tracts of land in Midrand,Kyalami,Sunninghill,Woodmead, R21 Corridor etc and is one of the few families that own huge tracts of land in the province. The Mia land barons history in South Africa starts with Moosa Mia in 1880s who came from India and together with his sons started more than 70 businesses overtime. They then purchased the Waterfall land for £16k around 1934 . To evade apartheid laws which prohibited land ownership by blacks(including Indians), the family created the Waterval Islamic Trust and put the land under it stating clearly that the land could be controlled by ANY RACE. Mia family members became the trustees . When the apartheid government created the Indian Penetration Commission, they could not prove that the Mia family owned the land known as Waterfall today.

The Waterfall Investment Company which was in recent years put together by the Waterval Islamic Institute partnered with property development companies like Balwin to "commercialise" the Waterfall land. The Waterfall Investment Company considers any amendment of the constitution to allow for expropriation of land without compensation a huge risk hence the Balwin owner Steve Brooks has been captured almost stroking President Ramaphosa as if he were Dr Matthew.

The Mia land barons and the like of Steve Brookes control more power when it comes to land ownership more than the parliament. Therefore, no land will ever be expropriated through an act of parliament.
