#RDC: Un médecin américain exerçant à Bunia, chef-lieu de l’Ituri, figure parmi les nouveaux cas confirmés d’Ebola en RDC, a indiqué ce lundi 18 mai, le docteur Jean Jacques Muyembe. Son prélèvement faisait partie des six échantillons reçus de Bunia, dont quatre se sont révélés positifs. Il s’agit du premier cas connu d’un ressortissant étranger contaminé depuis la déclaration de l’épidémie d’Ebola Bundibugyo, le 15 mai.

« Le médecin a été déjà évacué », m’a confirmé le docteur Muyembe et serait en route vers les USA.

La dix-septième épidémie d’Ebola enregistrée en RDC depuis 1976 a déjà dépassé 400 cas suspects et fait 89 morts, selon l’OMS, qui a déclaré le 17 mai une urgence de santé publique de portée internationale.

▪ A network linked to 73-year-old French businessman Pierre Robert from Bouffé, France, who owns various businesses including properties in Senegal.
