With @gamrelum and Sokhep Kri, elders from the Miju Mishmi community from Arunachal Pradesh. They are wearing Mishmi coats, jackets that are handwoven in intricate patterns. Mishmi coats are woven out of coarse cotton and wool and have a dominance of red and ink colours. Woven on loin strap looms, these coats requires skilled weavers because of the complexity of the design. #handwoven #weavesofindia @PemaKhanduBJP

With Minh and Phan, elders from the Balamon Cham Hindu community of Vietnam at the International Conference Of Ancient Living Cultures in Dibrugarh.

Balamon Cham are a non-Indic indigenous Hindu community of Vietnam that mainly reside in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces.

They practice a form of Shiva worship that is deeply connected with the history of the Hindu Champa kingdom of Vietnam.

Most Cham Hindus have never been to Bharat, but such is their connection with the land of Dharma that they believe that when they die, Lord Shiva sends Nandi to take their soul to the holy land of Bharat!

#Dharma is everywhere! Did Darshan at this lovely Shri Ganesh temple near Roing, Arunachal Pradesh.

The temple (and the priest) has an interesting story. A man from the Idu community found an ancient Ganesh Murti while tilling his field some 30 years ago. @ASIGoI experts dated it to about 7th century CE. They wanted to keep it in a museum, but the man refused, calling the manifestation of the Murti as divine grace.

He gave up alcohol and eating meat and is now a priest at the temple. He went to Maharashtra and learnt how to do Poojas and recite stotras and now lives in the temple premises in a small hut.
