@IaimforGOAT it's the "& i do i have 5". the & indicates she finished answering latest question and the "i have" links it back to the kids cause have was used there too ("have kids")
at it's core this is a baserate issue. denial is a really common coping mechanism for trauma, so being skeptical of people who say they've healed their trauma is understandable and even rational.
but it's just a heuristic. some people really do heal their trauma!
'believe victims' except when the victim claims something counter to narrative.
I spent a year doing ~200hrs of meditation on lsd, discovered and successfully processed serious trauma, gained radical self acceptance, stopped suffering, etc
Know what else i learned?
Slices of mouse brains have shown near normal activity after being stored at -150 ยฐC, marking a step towards suspended animation of people.

big if true. i bet it has more to do with the style of self reflection used though. therapy style trauma trawling and meditation style exploration are very different ways of knowing yourself
Meta-analysis: To "know thyself" can hurt your mental health.
Self-reflection, centered on the introspection and evaluation of oneโs thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in relation to self-concerns, occupies a central place in understanding the dynamics of mental health. Nonetheless, the relationship between self-reflection and mental health is a source of continuous controversy. This study represents the first meta-analysis to systematically investigate the relationship between self-reflection and mental health within the dual-factor model framework.
We found that self-reflection was significantly associated with negative mental health but not with positive mental health. The random-effect model showed no significant relationship between self-reflection and overall positive mental health or with individual positive indicators, including subjective well-being, life satisfaction, and self-esteem. In contrast, the model showed a significant positive relationship between self-reflection and overall negative mental health indicators, including depression and anxiety. This finding aligns with earlier studiesย and underscores that high levels of self-reflection are often linked with various mental health challenges
Furthermore, in clinical treatment, when individuals enhance their self-reflection abilities, they often become aware of previously unnoticed emotions, such as sadness. This can lead to depressive mood and distress. [Some] observations suggest that while moderate self-reflection supports normal social and emotional functioning, significant deviations in self-reflection may be associated with various psychopathology.
fuck, you know how people sometimes bring up how the word computer actually used to be a job title because before calculators if you wanted a lot of math done you had to pay people to sit in rooms and do long hand division etc.?
that's like a perfect parallel for coders today
oh, the reason teachers used to be so against writing left-handed is cause before quick drying ink was invented writing from left to right with your left hand led to way more smeared ink
The worst thing about @sama's nerd king to corpo supervillain arc is that he's single-handedly associated the all lowercase poaster aesthetic into an evil billionaire coded affectation in the eyes of the public
the problem with rationalism is that it overlooks that our illusions and delusions are features not bugs. funny people's friends rate them as funny, but not as funny as the person rates themselves.
depression is what happens when someone is able to rate themselves accurately
@astralpajamas i kinda want a cloud version of this where it runs an android phone on an emulator and does shit by having an llm look at pictures of the screen and interact with it like a human so i could just text it and order it around like an executive assistant who had a clone of my phone
