Today’s announcement on closing TASMAC shops located near schools, places of worship and bus stands is not just a government order for me. It is something I have been emotionally waiting for since 2018.

My father consumed alcohol in a TASMAC shop located hardly 50 meters away from Annanur railway station. That night, he never returned home.

We searched for him everywhere for days, friends’ houses, relatives’ houses, bus stands, railway stations, temples and every possible place with the hope that he would somehow come back safely.

But after 10 painful days, we received a call from the Avadi Railway Police asking us to identify a body through a photograph. I was completely devastated looking at that photo. Anyone can imagine how horrifying a body would look after a train accident. That moment shattered our family forever.

It took us years to recover from the pain of losing him. The hardest part was accepting that we would never see him again in our lives.

From that day onwards, whenever I heard about TASMAC closures, it always gave me an unexplainable sense of relief. But this time, it feels like real hope because I truly believe this will not remain just an announcement, but will be brought into action.

That is why I wholeheartedly welcome the honorable CM Thalapathy @TVKVijayHQ anna's decision. If this move can save even one family from going through the pain we faced, it will mean everything. 💔
