Would @SPIN ask Kanye West about his Nazi references? Would they ask Ariana Grande if she’s a “homewrecker”? Or ask other female singers who made racist remarks—some even using the N-word to attack other artists in the industry? What about the thousands of Zionists in the music world who support (and some even fund) the Palestinian genocide? Or artists promoting overdoses to the young audiences that consume their music?
Suddenly, every magazine that considers itself even remotely important has started acting like a judge of right and wrong, wanting to meddle in issues from the past that have already been debated and debunked. Do they bring up or ask about a person's past in every single review @SPIN publishes? Why is Melanie the only one subjected to this treatment?
I've faced riot cops, guerrillas & death squads as a journalist.
But nothing prepared me for the PR agency nightmare when I wrote about #MelanieMartinez
They slandered me. Offered money to kill the story.
Failed miserably.
A case study in disastrous public relations.
Kudos to @SPIN Magazine for defending free press!
Here's the article you were never meant to read: https://t.co/LNseaKFUVH
Spin Magazine writer Matt Thompson comes forward against Melanie Martinez after being ghosted for asking for comment on assault allegations
He claims the ‘PIGGYBACK’ singer considered the topic “deeply painful” and her publicist went on a tirade against the publication via email
Spin Magazine mentions Melanie Martinez in new article harassing her to speak on the accusations.
“ I had asked about the accusations and that's "deeply painful" and blah blah blah and a bunch of stuff off the record which is geared at dissuading me from mentioning the matter, but which doesn't work.”
