As a parent, I think this video has taught me something useful.
I recommend that you should try it on your kids, too.
I have also shared it with my wife.

2007A 36-year-old Elon Musk sits down for a quiet PBS interview and says, almost casually:
“The most important thing we can do for the future of consciousness is to become a multi-planetary species… Everything else pales in comparison.”
He then predicts, with zero hype:
•Fully reusable rockets that land like airplanes
•Electric cars that outperform gasoline in every way and go mass-market
•Solar + batteries becoming the cheapest energy on Earth
•Humans on Mars and a self-sustaining city there
Jeff Bezos was already the richest man on Earth in 2007. He started Blue Origin in 2000 with the exact same “multi-planetary” dream.
18+ years later:
Blue Origin has flown exactly zero orbital missions. New Glenn still hasn’t launched. No reusable booster has ever landed. No Mars plan with dates.
Elon?
•Falcon 9 boosters have landed 400+ times
•Starship (bigger than anything ever built) is flying
•Tesla sells 2 million cars a year and is worth more than the rest of the car industry combined
•Solar + batteries are now the cheapest electricity source in history
•First uncrewed Starships to Mars: 2026–2028. Crewed: late 2020s/early 2030s — exactly the timeline he gave in 2007
The vision never wavered. Not once.
The enthusiasm is the same calm, burning conviction you hear in that 2007 clip today.
The determination? He went personally bankrupt in 2008 keeping SpaceX and Tesla alive with his last dollars.
Almost 20 years later, every single “crazy” prediction from that interview is either already reality or on schedule.
This is what relentless execution looks like.
Watch the 2007 interview (25 minutes that aged like fine wine):
He didn’t just dream about the future.
He scheduled it. And showed up.
Stargate is a great name but the $500b is a ridiculous number and no one should take it seriously unless SoftBank is going to sell all of their BABA and ARM.
SoftBank has $38b in cash, $142b in debt and generates $3ish billion in FCF per BBG. They own $143b in ARM and $18b in BABA. If they start selling ARM, their stake will be worth much less very quickly.
Oracle has $11b in cash, $88b in debt and generates $10b in FCF.
OpenAI is burning cash.
MGX did not commit to a number and is a $100b fund. Maybe 10% of the fund goes into this best case.
Nvidia will limit how much they invest in any one model company (they don’t need a monopsony). Maybe $5b.
Barring the aforementioned SoftBank ARM sale, might be able to put together $50b in equity funding over several years. Can obviously finance the GPUs and put debt on the JV.
Nowhere close to $500b. Everyone should just start issuing press releases for $1 trillion AI projects.
BTW love it that the ticker MGX which is a biotech company is up 33% on this.
If you a professional investor or analyst and you took $500b at face value - or even worse wrote a *note* about this - you should resign in disgrace.
Vinod, Chinese companies are very much on top of it already.
Many have already developed their own home-grown LLMs from scratch.
They're not far behind and they have some original ideas that could actually be useful to the rest of the world.
They don't want to "steal" Western technology because (1) they don't need to, (2) they want sovereignty, (3) they want control.

@elonmusk UBS is bidding 2Bn to adquire Credit Suisse, a 167 years old swiss bank/brand with 1Trillion dollars in AuM. That's freaking cheap!! Its peanuts restructuration compared to what you want to do with @twitter . I think private banking would welcome a bit of #muskingaround
