Today, 47 states and the EU at the IAEA Board of Governors condemned Russia’s attack against Ukraine’s Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility near Chornobyl NPP.
The message is clear: Russia continues to undermine nuclear safety and security through its illegal war against Ukraine.
I thank our partners for their unwavering support. Now it is time to take action to stop Russia’s nuclear blackmail.
It is time to increase pressure on the aggressor to stop strikes against Ukrainian civilians and nuclear infrastructure and return the Zaporizhzhia NPP to its rightful owner, Ukraine.
Ukraine–Nordic-Baltic Summit. I want to thank Estonia for hosting. The NB8 format is very practical. There are three key priorities:
First, to make diplomacy more active. We discussed today how to do that.
Second, to provide Ukraine with air defense and strengthen our cooperation to make Europe stronger.
Third, important EU meetings are coming soon, and I thank every partner for supporting Ukraine. It is time to open all clusters. Everything is ready, and there is no reason to delay.
I am also grateful to our partners for their readiness to continue strengthening sanctions against Russia. This is important. Russia must end its war, and only pressure can help achieve that.
I met with President of Finland @alexstubb and Prime Minister of Norway @jonasgahrstore. I informed them about contacts at the leaders’ level in the E3–Ukraine format as well as our contacts with the American side.
Right now, all our partners note that Ukraine’s positions on the frontline are significantly stronger, and therefore the approaches in diplomacy, which we are now working to reinvigorate, must be based precisely on this. Unfortunately, Russia is trying to compensate for its enormous losses on the battlefield with strikes on our cities and communities, on civilian infrastructure. That is why air defense missiles are our top priority. And we discussed how to secure additional supplies for Ukraine right now, as well as efforts to develop a European anti-ballistic missile system.
I am grateful to Alex and Jonas, and to the people of Finland and Norway, for their steadfast assistance and support. We appreciate that our agreements are being implemented.
#StopRussia
Being unable to achieve its goals on the battlefield, Russia increases terror against civilians. The world cannot close eyes to its scale.
At least three people were killed, including a pregnant 22-year-old woman, in Chuhuiv, as a result of Russia’s overnight terrorist attacks on Kharkiv and its region.
In Zaporizhzhia, Russian strikes killed at least two people and injured over thirty, including children. In Chernihiv, Russians struck an ordinary truck that delivered bread, injuring its 55-year-old driver. Other regions have been under attack as well.
Russia has already committed over 200,000 war crimes in Ukraine in the course of its full-scale invasion. It must be held accountable.
We urge the world to ramp up pressure on the Russian regime and further increase the cost of this terror for the aggressor.
Glad to welcome EU Commissioner Marta Kos to Kyiv.
The visit comes on the day Ukraine received a new €2.8 billion disbursement under the Ukraine Facility for supporting our budgetary needs.
We discussed preparations for the Intergovernmental Conference in Luxembourg where the Cluster 1 «Fundamentals» of Ukraineʼs EU accession negotiations is expected to be officially opened on 15 June.
We also look forward to opening all the remaining clusters within a short timeframe.
I informed regarding the further steps of the Government and Parliament of Ukraine to adopt legislation necessary to advance our membership in the EU that reflects both our commitments under the accession process and the aspirations of the Ukrainian people.
As part of President @ZelenskyyUa’s visit to the United Kingdom, I was pleased to hold a bilateral meeting with my British colleague @YvetteCooperMP and thank her for the hospitality.
We discussed the outcomes of the President’s important visit to the UK and further steps to put our leaders’ agreements into action.
I informed Secretary Cooper about the battlefield dynamic, Ukraine’s successful long-range sanctions against Russia, and the achievements of our defense industry.
We spoke in detail about peace efforts and the role the United Kingdom and Europe more broadly.
I thanked my colleague for sharing the outcomes of her recent visits to China and India. We discussed their important contributions to advancing peace.
We also coordinated next steps in increasing pressure on the aggressor.
I am grateful to Secretary Cooper for reaffirming the UK’s willingness to further ramp up economic pressure on the Russian regime.
Together, we are defending our shared values and advancing a safer and more prosperous Europe.

I discussed with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom @Keir_Starmer the steps needed to reinvigorate diplomacy and Ukraine’s current needs.
I informed Keir about the need for additional missiles for air defense systems and the things that are important for protecting energy infrastructure and preparing for winter. We also coordinated our positions ahead of the G7 and NATO Summits and the meetings of the Coalition of the Willing.
I am grateful to Keir for organizing the E3–Ukraine meeting and for his constant and effective support for our state.
Today, the Russians again struck the special territory around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. A “shahed” hit one of the buildings of the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility. An extremely critical infrastructure facility – and an extremely vile Russian strike. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Energy, and all our services are already working to ensure that each of our partners knows what has happened.
Russia deliberately struck this particular nuclear infrastructure facility. As of now, there are no readings exceeding normal background radiation levels. But there is certainly an increase in Russia’s brazenness, which long ago went off the charts. Ukrainian first responders extinguished the fire at this facility after the strike. And real new steps by the world are needed so that the Russians feel that this terrorist war of theirs is a blow to Russia itself.
Last night, there were also Russian strikes on other civilian facilities in 13 of our regions. In total, over the course of this past week, Russia launched 88 missiles, more than 3,250 attack drones, and around 1,800 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine. Pressure on Russia must be increased. Thank you to everyone who’s helping!
This is not the first time Russian forces are putting Ukrainian nuclear facilities at risk. Russia’s nuclear blackmail and threats to nuclear safety are systemic, deliberate, and unacceptable. They deserve worldwide condemnation and increased pressure on the aggressor. @iaeaorg
Happy National Day, Sweden! 🇸🇪 @SweMFA
Warm congratulations to the people of Sweden on the occasion of the National Day of Sweden.
We highly appreciate Sweden’s unwavering support for Ukraine and cherish our close partnership. Wishing Sweden peace, prosperity, and continued success.
🤨 Two Ukrainian para-armwrestlers were fined €250 each at the European Championships in Budapest for walking off the podium in protest during the Russian anthem.
The Global Ukrainian Summit 2026 in Bern brought together Ukrainian communities, leaders, diplomats, volunteers, and friends of Ukraine from around the world. United for victory, recovery, and a strong global Ukrainian future. 🇺🇦🇨🇭
On June 5, hundreds of Ukrainians gathered near the border – to welcome home 185 Ukrainian defenders and one civilian released from Russian captivity during the latest prisoner exchange.
They were greeted with flags, flowers and tears of joy. Every Ukrainian still held in Russian captivity return home.
I spoke with @UNESCO_DG Dr. Khaled El-Enany about Russia’s latest massive attacks against Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
In just two recent waves of strikes, Russia launched more than 1,250 attack drones and 163 missiles, damaging some of Ukraine’s most important cultural institutions, including the National Chornobyl Museum, National Opera, National Art Museum and many others. Several damaged objects are located within the buffer zone of UNESCO World Heritage site.
It is particularly cynical that Russia, a member of UNESCO, continues to target cultural heritage, showing total disregard for the organization’s core principles and objectives.
Russia’s war targets our people and cities, but also culture, education, and everything that shapes Ukraine’a identity and historical memory. The scale and systematic nature of this destruction require a stronger response from UNESCO.
I stressed the need for such a response and all necessary measures to hold the aggressor accountable. Ukraine is considering further steps within UNESCO, including consultations on convening a special session of its Executive Board dedicated to the consequences of Russia’s aggression.
I also invited Dr. El-Enany to visit Ukraine and witness the consequences of Russia’s attacks firsthand.
