BREAKING: Nigeria–Canada Air Transport Agreement Concluded!
The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development @fmaviationng has concluded an expanded Air Transport Agreement with Canada — paving the way for direct flights between both countries for the first time.
Highlights of the agreement:
✅ Multiple airlines can be designated by each country
✅ 14 weekly passenger flights allowed per side
✅ 10 weekly all-cargo flights allowed per side
✅ Fifth freedom rights granted for cargo operations
This follows talks that began when the Hon. Minister @fkeyamo received @CanHCNigeria 's Chargé d'Affaires, David Sproule, and his delegation at the Ministry in Abuja last month.
"This is long overdue," the Minister said. "Thousands of Nigerians travelling to Canada weekly have had to transit through Europe or the US — this agreement closes that gap."
The Hon. Minister was represented at the signing ceremony by the Director of Air Transport Management, Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Tijjani, who joined the Canadian Chief Air Negotiator for Global Affairs, Ms. Shendra Melia, at the High Commission of Canada in Abuja to formalize the historic agreement.
A major win for trade, tourism, and the Nigerian diaspora in Canada. 🤝 @BayoAdedosu@TJ_Insuranceman@aonanuga1956

Probably the biggest startup announcement of the year (decade?) in terms of the calibre of founders. If I had to name the top 10 engineers currently or previously at Google in terms of impact it would be the two cofounders (Larry and Sergey) and all 4 of these folks:
BREAKING: The UK government is expanding the Global Talent visa programme to attract the world's brightest researchers!
This enables 100+ research-intensive companies to sponsor the world's best scientists and engineers to live and work in Britain, not just universities and research institutes.
The goal is to drive breakthroughs in AI, quantum computing, nuclear fusion, clean energy and life sciences while creating skilled jobs and growth in every part of the UK.
NICE
Jeff Dean joined Google as employee #30 in 1999
He didn’t just write code. He and Sanjay basically invented the systems that let the modern internet exist: MapReduce, Bigtable, Spanner. Then he co-founded Google Brain, pushed TensorFlow into the world, and turned a napkin calculation about speech recognition into the TPU, the chip powering most of Google’s AI today.
In high school he built epidemiology software that was 26x faster than what the pros were using.
There’s an entire internet meme of “Jeff Dean facts” treating him like Chuck Norris of coding, and half of them are basically true.
The guy quietly built the foundation under almost everything you use online, then helped invent the current AI era.
And today he’s walking out to start something new.
Insane.
Remembered when I first met @JeffDean in 2023 at @DeepIndaba I wasn't exactly sure who he was but I was drawn by his approachable nature. Answering everyone question about the work he does at @GoogleDeepMind and just couldn't help but ask for a picture.
Cheers to greater heights as you exit Google 👏
A memorable week working with @JeffDean@Sanjay_Ghemawat@OriolVinyalsML@quocleix—absolute AI legends—launching @DiscoLoopAI, a PBC aiming to accelerate progress via automating complex science and engineering. Radical co-led the initial investment. 🚀♾
