An organism is a self organized, self directed, purposive entity, irreducible to its parts. A computer is a mechanism whose organization is externally imposed and is entirely reducible to its component mechanisms
The idea that Claude is conscious is so unbelievable that one is left to search for extraneous psychological motives on the part of the anthropic crew. Marketing? Hubris? A longing for family? A longing for God?
@electricfelix The incentives to have an EV as a private vehicle in Norway have been big for some time. The situation for LCVs & other commercial vehicles (with green number plates) is the opposite.
I can't understand why more institutional investors have not taken a stand against the forthcoming SpaceX IPO. The valuation is bonkers and governance is about the worst. https://t.co/Bj7YtvHWa6
These 3 men won the Ice Hockey World Championship for Finland on Sunday.
Yesterday, the newly crowned world champions were already back fulfilling their military service.

There will be a period where humanity deeply regrets according the same copyright rights to artistic expression (musical score, poems, literature, poems, performances etc) as software coding. Deeply depressing here: https://t.co/0tZ6kRAvDF @atmoio
@Microinteracti1 Completely agree too! Lived in Norway for 6 years. Two big problems, as you say: 1) protecting the Norwegian agricultural sector with support & tariffs. 2) Highly concentrated ownership (cartel) in the retail sector. Perhaps these two work together.
@Thomashornall Yes. I lived in Norway for 6 years. Terrible grocery stores and hugely expensive. One would have thought that as Norwegians got richer and traveled more, that demand for something better would emerge. Some progress with immigrant owned stores.
The Norwegian environmental organization Bellona is close to bankruptcy.
Bellona did a lot of great work on the Soviet nuclear waste legacy in Russia, including being the first to publish photos of the infamous Andreeva Bay in 1995.
