This is disgusting. And desperate. I have never seen or heard @FredThomasUK “boast” or “bloat”. On the contrary I sense he makes less of his military service than he could. But I also know, as does Mercer, that Fred is restricted in what he can say because he was involved in special forces operations. Mercer is the veterans’ minister and I know from talking to him that he really cares about the issue. But this I’m afraid shows that when the choice is between politics and decency he goes for the personal political advantage even if it means an attack that is as unfair as it is unwarranted.
