This may be the funniest pitch sequence I’ve ever seen in my life.
102 basically to the dugout followed by 3 straight on the paint. What are you even supposed to do here as the hitter😂
Coach Van Horn gave me a hit & run against Baylor in 2002. I completely missed the sign and left our runner out to dry and he was thrown out.
DVH was clearly pissed. In the dugout he glared and said, "I suggest you find someone to review the signs for you or you won't be on the field much longer."
I said, sorry.
He went straight to me and said, in so many words, "don't ever apologize. You think I think you did it on purpose? You play the game with everything you got and when you f up, you learn, grow, and come back better."
It wasn't those exact words, but close, and in his own way and with his impressive intensity that is hard to explain unless you've been in his crosshairs.
That was 23 years ago.
I only say this because you want a coach that is CONSISTENT. You may not like what he has to say, but it is CONSISTENT.
He told me not to apologize for something relatively small, in a game nowhere near the moment of last night. I was also not anywhere close to the impact player of Davalan. I was just another guy.
Yet, last night, in one of the most difficult situations to swallow, he was CONSISTENT.
Regardless of the ability of the player or moment of the situation, you need consistency from your leader.
Impressive post game interview.
WHOLESOME: Bill Belichick & Nick Saban talking about the lessons Kobe Bryant taught them
“I worked 8 hours a day for 365 days a year, so I can get through that season when I was 40 years old, they don't put that part of ESPN.”
Damn, this video hits 🥺
In 2018 when I was on the Giants, Bonds was in the batting cages before one of our games. We were taking bp like we normally before a game when he out of the blue decides, he wants to take some swings. He steps in the cage wearing slacks and dress shoes. 1st pitch he does his patented bunt(iykyk), then the next pitch he takes this huge hack. You could hear the whip of his bat, unlike anything Ive seen at that present time. He slips from the torque and the slippery dress shoes on the turf and the ball goes straight up into the net above him. Now, There was a tv that was bout 5 feet above the net of our cage. The ball was hit so hard that it hit the tv screen and completely shattered it. Mind you, the ball didnt go thru a hole of any sort. The net just stretched far enough because of Bonds’ power. I say all of that to say this, I believe him😂
🎥 5 Traits of Offenses Paying Attention to the Right Things @CC20rake
These are culture checks ✅
If your team isn’t doing these things, the question is ‘why not’?
Hitting is so mental man! You’re right if the homer doesn’t get robbed he’s feeling saucy. We line out we stink, we get an infield single back to feeling saucy. “Experienced” hitters don’t fall into the trap of letting results dictate their mental, control what you can control. You can control you’re not second guessing your approach or being in between pitches, you can control getting it going earlier than on time. Don’t chase results ❗️
