He/him/his I write by day and battle health insurance companies by night Currently working on an untitled prehistoric fiction novel IG: @the_disabled_writer
@KrisRey19 If you count the earlier Percy Jackson books as MG, then yes- I grew up on those books and they’re a forever-favorite I revisit semi-regularly. Personally I count the first 3 as MG, I don’t consider them YA till 4 & 5
@porco_rosso92 If you want to stretch the definition of “cover,” Simon Rattle with the Vienna Philharmonic doing Beethoven’s 7th Symphony. Otherwise, Rainery’s cover of Take On Me
@amrsalehduat Honestly depends. Sometimes I get an idea for characters and build a story for them, sometimes I get an idea for a story and built characters for it. Sometimes even I just get a general vibe for a story/ideas for a world and build a story and characters for it
For context, I started reading the books when they first came out when I was 9, Annabeth was my #1 fictional crush most of my childhood. Watching the show, it’s definitely Sally
The PJO show has me feeling older than I’ve ever felt before. Growing up, Annabeth was my first fictional crush, was my biggest fictional crush my whole childhood. 15 minutes into episode 1, I’m sitting there, and the thought crossed my mind- “… do I have a crush on Sally???”
@ReaderReborn The late Pleistocene era. And it’s fiction, but the Earth’s Children Saga is a FANTASTIC depiction of the time and (from what we knew at the time it was written) INCREDIBLY accurate to the point where the author was considered a leading expert and got multiple honorary degrees
@writingbyisa It will never cease to astound and annoy me the number of people who just walk around in public and even confined spaces like trains or buses talking on speakerphone or listening to music/watching videos without any headphones on. We don’t need to all hear all that
@Amandabadillo25 I have so many qualms with the “YA teenage girl in a dystopian world with a love triangle” but NONE of them come from her writing, she absolutely mastered that story and my issues are from everyone who came after and who tried & failed to copy her success
@BookSpotlight 👏👏👏
Others’ success doesn’t mean your failure. You can celebrate someone else succeeding without taking it as a sleight against your own progress.
@KirBlacketer Stormlight Archives by Sanderson, Adolin Kholin. Fluffy teddy bear/cinnamon roll on the surface, will fight anything for hurting someone he loves
@theoneginevra Regularly. Main antagonist in my backburner project is a murdered, serial r*pist and abuser, illegally experiments on people (& children), and is a massive embezzler. Just for one example
@Listenerbell_ 2/2 For example, I was BARELY qualified at all for my current job, certainly not nearly as much as other candidates, but my boss took a chance on me cuz he was impressed with my interview for it, two years later he’s still thrilled picking me and I’m glad he gave me a shot
@Listenerbell_ 1/2 No, I wouldn’t say so at all. Reasoning being just because someone doesn’t look as qualified on paper doesn’t mean they’re not still the best person for the job. People can surprise you
