Last night, my three-year-old son woke up drenched in sweat, as if he'd just moved a mountain. He asked if I could turn on the fan; he just wanted any breeze to ease the heat.

It's 3:00 AM now.

There's no electricity in the entire city. Electricity here is a luxury compared to the death, bombing, and hunger. I was going to tell him we only get electricity for two hours a day, and that's all I have to run the fan.

But he wouldn't understand.

I went to the kitchen and got a plastic dish and started fanning it. He felt a little better and fell back asleep. After a few minutes, I felt paralyzed from fanning him and stopped. He woke up and begged me to continue!

I started fanning him again, and he fell asleep.

I'd stop, and he'd wake up again. The only solution now is to go up to the roof, despite the mosquitoes and other insects. I carried him up, and he fell asleep immediately in the cool air. But the mosquitoes were still there, making our night even more miserable.

A Thousand Hells in Gaza

Some citizens in other countries are outraged by a one-hour power outage. We in Gaza have been without electricity for three years, and not only that, but we are also being killed.

The City of Oblivion

We live in the City of Oblivion. No human being can live without electricity, but it's not a city the world would fight for. This city is miserable. All they can offer you is a heartfelt prayer and a sad emoji.

They have no mother. No one to feed them, protect them, or keep them safe.

Today, we were able to rescue all four. They were examined, given food, and are now safe with us.❤️

The Sulala animal shelter held out as long as they could, but Israel's demonic ambitions reached their area in 2024. They had no way to transport all the dogs, so they left the gates open and opened every bag of food they had to sustain the dogs as long as possible. The dogs didn't bolt for the gates to run away, nor did they stay to eat all the food at their disposal. They chased the people who cared for them. This was the scene.

Two of those dogs miraculously traveled over ten miles and found the shelter family. I suspect most of them have been killed or starved to death, just like the humans have been killed and starved.

Saeed, his son Saed, and other family members are still caring for stray animals in Gaza, and have set up medical points for pets and working animals. But this scene still haunts them.

It's a sense of failure. I feel it too. So many of us do. Failure to protect the most vulnerable in this world.

There is still an entire society, besieged for twenty years, held in a concentration camp that doubled as a weapons testing laboratory for Jewish supremacists, then an extermination zone for the past three years. They have no real way to fight back. And we've all just watched. Day in and day out. People, young and old, burned alive, incinerated, evaporated by weapons we can't comprehend, starved, plagued with disease, terrorized, degraded, amputated, shredded, humiliated, destroyed.

Their bodies were recovered from beneath the rubble two days ago, and today they are being laid to rest, two years after their deaths.

We found this tiny blind kitten searching the ground for anything she could eat. She couldn’t see the world around her—only keep searching, hoping to survive.🐈🐾

Just a few hours later, she was safe in our shelter, surrounded by warmth instead of hunger.❤️

A veterinarian examined her and immediately began her treatment.🩺
