@MarkCHealey Not me. Too many bad seasons. Considering how fast they fell and shattered after 2024, I don't see anything worth watching for another 5-6 years (again).
@WexlerRules@DonaldStevie25@JohnFromAlbany@BillMaddenNYDN Instead of trying to be the Dodgers, the Mets should study the Yankees. 33 consecutive winning seasons. 19 playoff seasons since Y2K. 5 WS since Y2K. Tradition? Stability? It's certainly not spending.
@SNY_Mets@chelsea_janes What are the Yankees, who are in the same market, do right that the Mets do wrong? 33 consecutive winning seasons. 20 playoff seasons since Y2K. The Mets? 0 consecutive winning seasons 6 playoff seasons since Y2K.
@MarkCHealey The Mets had a fire sale in 2023, how did that work out? Acuna is OPSing 408 with the CWS. Gilbert is OPSing 613 in SF and Ryan Clifford has 73Ks in 200 PAs in Triple A. Marco Vargas and Ronald Hernandez are unimpressive and Jeremy Rodriguez looks to have flamed out in Low-A.
@ernestdove Time to get on with your life’s work. This franchise is toast, and no one really cares about it, the players, or anything Mets-related. What a big fall in a short time.
@MarkCHealey Agree 100% I can remember the HoJo in center and Hundley in left fiascos. Playing guys out of position almost never works (A-Rod the possible exception).
In less than 1 year, the Mets have replayed all of their organizational lows. The 2007 Collapse last year. The Midnight Massacre last December. And now The Worst Team $ Could Buy. @WexlerRules@ernestdove@MarkCHealey@JonHeyman@NYNJHarper
@WexlerRules Gotta stop drafting high school shortstops with premium draft picks. Full stop. Draft college pitchers and outfielders. Get the toolsy shortstop types in the IFA draft. College pitchers are ready for the majors sooner and make better trade chips in July.
@ragazzoreport Should have "played it safe" by not signing him. An of-injured MI signed to play 1B on a team with WS aspirations. The way this team has been constructed is dumbfounding.
@HowieRose Yes but that dark period was followed by what (to date) has been the best stretch in team history. From the ashes of the 79 season came the #1 pick Strawberry. Whitey in St.Loo traded Keith to us. Mazzilli was a big enough star to pry Darling loose.
@ouroldballgame 1. Keep the pitch clock, the 3-batter rule and the universal DH. Well done MLB!
2. Have two 16 team leagues each with four divisions.
3. More day games on Saturdays
@brooklynjxc@The7Line As someone who lived through both of those eras, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that statement. The beginning of the Wilpon/Doubleday era was good to great. It began to turn the day they traded Mitchell for McReynolds, and took a nosedive with the Scioscia homer.
@WexlerRules @JMackeyPG @Mets This pretty much smells like that so-called Padres deal a few weeks ago. Just a lot of chatter to fill the time in before the games start. I'd be very surprised if anything happens.
