@votevets@DonJBacon@Flood4Nebraska would be nice if you’d honor your words and sign the discharge instead of pushing to strip disability coverage in the “Not taking care of veterans act”.
@RICHARDBOULANG2@votevets Your comments show how little you research topics and blindly comment or you just wanted to rage bait those that put everything on the line during their service and are now losing the a reason for joining the service in the first place… A retirement proudly earned!
@RICHARDBOULANG2@votevets You Sir are as dumb as they come. Let simplify. If you fall at your job or get in accident in company car.. Then get compensation for said fall/accident… you are saying your paycheck should now be garnished dollar per dollar. This is what is happening to veterans.
Serious conspiracy level question.. 4 out 5 Nebraska Cornhuskers National Championships were won with a Democrat in office. You’ve tried changing all leadership, why not put replace the governor with a Democrat and see if it changes? @HuskerFootball
This week, I will again demand passage of the Major Richard Star Act on the Senate Floor, & plan on forcing votes on the legislation during the NDAA markup. 1/
@DavidWarrenVet@passmajstaract@HouseVetAffairs@HouseGOP@HouseDemocrats@DonJBacon Taking these politicians at their word is the first error. Only 203 signed, with just 1 carrying an R. Bacon claims bipartisan support & has yet to show any honor in his word. Being in his district, he shows little to no concern for those in his area or veterans. I have 0 faith.
They survived the battlefields, endured the surgeries, and carried the invisible and visible scars of combat home with them.
Now, they are forced to endure a different kind of waiting game.
Look closely at this chamber. It sits empty during pro forma sessions while 54,000 Chapter 61 combat-injured veterans are docked an average of over $1,000 every single month by a broken federal budget offset.
A historic 330-member bipartisan supermajority has signed on to the #MajorRichardStarAct.
Yet, House leadership continues to hold the bill hostage behind procedural walls.
The paperwork fight is over. The eyes of America’s wounded heroes are fixed directly on the House floor.
They are watching, and they are waiting to see who has the courage to stop treating a bipartisan supermajority veterans issue like a partisan one.
This goes to show that talk does not equal action.
Stop the stalling.
Sign the H.Res. 1247 discharge petition.
Force the vote and finish the mission.

The fight for the Major Richard Star Act has officially entered a new phase — and Congress can no longer hide from it.
Today, the discharge petition for H. Res. 1247 officially went live in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In less than TWO HOURS on Day 1, the petition already reached 157 signatures.
That should send a message to every Member of Congress in Washington: the time for excuses is over.
This legislation was originally introduced by Gus Bilirakis and has amassed overwhelming bipartisan support with 330 additional cosponsors behind it. This is not a fringe issue. This is not partisan legislation. This is one of the most broadly supported veteran bills in Congress today.
But here’s what should concern every American:
The discharge petition itself was not filed by the original Republican author of the legislation.
It was filed by Mark Takano and Raul Ruiz — because leadership continued delaying action despite overwhelming support.
And after the first wave of signatures today, one thing became impossible to ignore:
Not a single Republican signed the discharge petition.
Not one.
That raises a serious question:
Are some members of Congress willing to publicly cosponsor legislation for combat-wounded veterans… but unwilling to take the one action that actually forces it to a vote?
Because sponsorship without action means nothing.
Signing the discharge petition IS the action.
For years, combat-wounded veterans medically retired under Chapter 61 have been forced to forfeit earned military retirement pay simply because they were injured in combat before reaching 20 years of service. The Major Richard Star Act would finally correct that injustice for tens of thousands of veterans and military families.
This should not be a partisan issue.
This should not require political games.
And it certainly should not require veterans to beg Congress to do the right thing after already sacrificing their bodies for this country.
A discharge petition exists for one reason: when leadership refuses to move legislation that clearly has enough support to pass. Under House rules, once 218 signatures are reached, Congress is forced to hold a vote.
The American people are watching closely now.
Veterans are watching.
Military families are watching.
And every Representative who cosponsored this bill but refuses to sign the discharge petition will now have to explain why.
If your Representative claims to support combat-wounded veterans, then call them today and ask a very simple question:
“Will you sign the discharge petition for H. Res. 1247?”
Because words are easy.
Cosponsorship is easy.
Action is what matters.
Next week, there are no more excuses.
The discharge petition for the Major Richard Star Act opens, and every Member of Congress will be forced to make a choice.
Sign it... or don't.
This bill already has overwhelming bipartisan support. Hundreds of Representatives have co-sponsored it.
Let's stop pretending this is complicated.
If you support the bill, you sign the petition.
If you don't sign it, you're part of the delay.
Combat-wounded veterans have waited long enough. These are men and women who were injured in service to this country and are still being denied the full benefits they earned.
Not because the support isn't there.
Not because Congress doesn't know.
But because action keeps getting delayed by political theater.
Let's be very clear:
This is not red vs. blue.
This is right vs. wrong.
Combat-wounded veterans are more important than party loyalty. Their sacrifice comes before politics.
Now it's on us to hold them accountable.
Call your Representative NOW.
Ask them directly:
Will you sign the discharge petition?
If they say they support the Major Richard Star Act, there is only one acceptable answer.
No more statements.
No more co-sponsorship press releases.
No more delays.
Sign the petition.
Force the vote.
Give these veterans what they earned.

Combat-injured veterans are forced to give up earned retirement pay just to receive the disability compensation they're owed.
The Major Richard Star Act.
Cost: $13 billion. About one week of the Iran War.
We find the money for war.
We can find the money for the wounded.
Dave Star (brother of the late Major Richard Star) continues his brother's legacy on Capitol Hill by calling for the passage of the act named after his brother!

This is what it cost Sgt. Brooks to serve.
He’s one of the 54,000 veterans still affected by the Major Richard Star Act.
The sacrifice was immediate.
The impact will last a lifetime.
The solution already exists.
It just hasn’t been passed.

The Major Richard Star Act is an about fairness to American veterans. The administration reduces retirement benefits by medical injuries in service which are two separate categories. The wounded /retired veterans are not pawns to be treated as double dippers but respected
