blink-182, When We Were Young 2025
REVIEW: One of the best things about watching blink-182 in 2025 is that, no matter if it’s your first time or 100th time, you still have to pinch yourself that it is happening. That the Mark, Tom and Travis show is in full swing.
Now, what makes it even better is that they have never sounded so incredible.
This appearance at When We Were Young rounds out a bout of touring that kicked off at Coachella back in 2023, and all that time on stage has allowed them to become as locked in, free-flowing and genuinely joyous as they have ever been.
The classics are here, of course, with ‘First Date’, ‘The Rock Show’ and ‘Dumpweed’ getting the vocal chords of this bumper crowd warmed up, but it’s in the other set selections that show just how much they are enjoying band life right now. There are nods to their scrappy roots with ‘M+M's’ and ‘Josie’, rare album track favourites via the breezy ‘Rollercoaster’ and emotionally charged ‘Wishing Well’, and bang up to date bangers thanks to ‘DANCE WITH ME’ and ‘TURPENTINE’. Every ebb and flow of their journey is documented here and executed passionately and purposefully. There’s even time for a bit of a Travis Barker drum solo, towel over the face of course, to add to the fun.
By embracing their legendary status while ensuring they address all their personal needs, they truly feel like the complete package, setting a formidable benchmark for those who admire and find inspiration from them to strive to reach.
As the timeless triple header of ‘What’s My Age Again?’, ‘All The Small Things’ and Dammit’ bring the curtain down, this is cemented as another notch on blink-182’s endless belt.
But more than anything, just seeing these three friends having the time of their lives on stage together again still feels very special.
It will probably feel this way forever now, and that is very welcome indeed.
