@frontline_india Rahul Sonpimple, Deepali Salve and Sambhaji Bhagat among leaders detained from IIT Mumbai. Only demand from the leaders was that they be allowed to give a representation to IIT Mumbai administration @frontline_india
VIDEO | Addressing a press conference Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi says, "Athira from Kerala has lost her hearing in one ear. She is deaf in one ear because she was struck on that ear. She can no longer hear. Last time I showed you a boy who was blinded. Now, she is deaf in one ear."
Athira, says, "I am from Kerala, studying at Delhi University. Yesterday, when they detained us, there were no female police officers in the bus. So, I simply asked, 'Where is the lady police officer or lady constable?' If they want to detain us, having at least one female constable present is mandatory. Then, the bus moved and stopped in front of the Connaught Place police station, where they continuously hit my entire cheek. Because of this, I have an injury to my eye and damage to my ear..."

The last time I remember Indians being jailed for waving the Tiranga at a public place was under colonial rule, when foreign rulers saw us as inferior and treated us as such.
Ashu and Saurav have been sent to 5 days judicial custody.
Their fault? Unfurling tricolour at Jantar Mantar.
Show some guts, @narendramodi. If you’re so determined to crush dissent, have the courage to officially declare an Emergency instead of hiding behind these cowardly tactics.
Every single mark on @ritubarala’s and Athira face right now is proof of how gutless and terrified the Delhi Police has become.
And what a shame it has become For the Nation...
You think beating up young women who dare to question you is going to scare us into silence? Watch us.
We’re not letting this slide.
Show up tomorrow at 11 AM at Parliament Street Police Station. Let’s show them we aren't backing down.
Stand with @Ritubarala & Athira
In #NewIndia, Hindu Kranti Dal "activists" coming to CP with swords and lathis are released on bail the same evening. But young people trying to unfurl the tiranga at Jantar Mantar are sent to Tihar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation is watching. The world is watching.
This is a very disturbing watch. @dhanyarajendran pieces together how close to 30 journalists were roughed up, assaulted and detained while covering protests. In some cases their cameras was illegally taken away.

It's 9 PM and still Saurav, Ashutosh and other members of @Cockroachisback is under detention. Their phones have been snatched.
Has the Government totally lost it ?
This is an exhaustive list of accounts from journalists who were either detained, assaulted, or had their equipment damaged by the Delhi Police. There are around 30 accounts in total, with direct quotes from almost all of them.

What a country we have become!
A big shout-out to all the young lawyers who ensure the release of all detainees every evening!
This fight goes on because we do not fight it alone. Journalists reporting the truth despite unlawful repression, lawyers holding the police to the law, lakhs and lakhs of first-time protesters fighting tooth and nail, giving actual blood to keep democracy alive.
Amidst all that’s happening, it’s the second anniversary of the passing of Prof. GN Saibaba, soon after his acquittal by the Bombay High Court. For @the_hindu on how the UAPA continues to imprison dissent since then: https://t.co/3xgcZSwdHG
A sctn of the media has reported that I was detained yesterday while participating in a protest. This is incorrect, could be inadvertent. I was merely speaking to the media without flouting any of the Delhi Police restrictions. Was well away from the barricades and did not even speak to any police officer. I was alone and strictly within the prohibitory numbers. I am still at a loss as to why the police and CRPF pounced on me. All of this is clearly visible on video..as almost all the media were present at the time.
"For people to protest in large numbers, the protest needs to be cool and safe. CJP made it cool, but someone needs to make it safe too, that's where we come in": Satvik, part of a group that drives detained protesters home. Reporting w/ @BiplobKumarDas
